Can someone make an easy installer that can modify the DNS Server entries via a one click web installer or Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP?
That would make adopting OpenNIC much easier.
Reverting it back to the Department of Commerce would only be temporary. At this point, The Department of Commerce would better than ICANN. At least you can petition the government.
I think the net community should establish it sown alternate open governing authority for a community or root name servers and bypass this ICANN garbage.
Later as the alternate board gets established and proves that it can openly mange the names, then it should petition the Department of Commerce to take over that current root name servers.
Sounds like it is time for ICANN for be dismantled.
Since they have not lived up to their contract, let the authority revert back to the Department of Commerce, which will buy time to establish a new board that will be more accountable.
Would I use.net at all? Why should I? I can use Java/J2EE today and be portable across numerous platforms.
J2EE is mature. I can do web services with it via the JAX-RPC API.
J2EE is more secure than anyting that Microsoft has.
I don't trust Microsoft and neither should the Linux and open source community. Why should we support.Net, a closed Microsoft proprietary architecture, proposed by a company known for its shady business dealings?
I would not give Microsoft a beachead in the Linux and open source platform. What Microsoft probably wants to do is make.Net an indespensable component and require license fees later on. If they can do this, they will control the Linux platfrom.

If it looks loke a crook, quacks like a crook and smells like a crook, it is probably a crook.

More FUD from the Microsoft crowd. We don't need not stinkin .net

Wake up and stop prostituting with a monopolist.
I believe they are accountable to the United States Commerce Department.
