It's because of the reasonons you just stated that they are a monopoly. Why should IE be the only one that people HAVE to support(Ok, so you dont have to, but to be realistic in todays world..)?!? I think it's your own faults if your product dies because IE isn't there..
I guess i'm lucky... I am a workstudy underneath our sys admin and he could care less how much I print off, be it 1 page to 300:) Though I do use a refil kit at home because I never seem to be at the school when I really need to print something..
And what really gets me is when ever I use outlook express, it boots up MSN messenger also, and at times it bugs me to sign up for passport even though I have disabled it.. They take people as being stupid.. If you cram it down their throats enough, they'll end up believing it...
The big difference with mandrake is they are known for the latest software, and not so much the most stable. To me it kinda looks like a testbed for a lot of applications. Because of this it won't ever be like Debian or anything, and I don't think they are even wanting to..
Anyone remember the other theme based PC's and what happend to them? Barbie ring a bell? Ok, so this may have more of a chance, but really, MTV doing a computer??
Besides, I'd rather build my own anyhow, so I guess it really dosn't matter to me:)
