I don't see this as being the way of the future like a lot of you guys do, since if it becomes mainstream in anyway then the powers that be, will simply make it illeagle. This is tragic but it will happen -- sorry
Basically, this is the same type of thing that happend to radio, then happened to software, and the internet itself,
If you create a tech that will cost a major corp a lot of money then that corp will attempt everything in there power to kill it, this is the sad reality
I think that the best direction that this tech should follow now, is to make it impossible when the inevitable happens. Have it built for the time when it becomes under attack, much like the gnu lisence has protected Linux, or gnuetta has for mp3.

In the future, when M$ isnt around (and all monopolies end eventually) there greatest mistake will be pursuming that there success is down to the stuff they make. Or rather, that anything with the name M$ will sell just because it is m$, that they are seperate from market reality. The reality is that though years and years of extending there monopoly and crashing any real threat they have to the desktop, M$ have missed the whole point of what computers are about. Computer are about Personal empowerment, The first PC's were created, not to really fill any great need, but rather because some geek got sick and tired of having to rent time on the University mainframe. M$ success has been because of the personal empowerment that computers provide, namly a cheap platform to write your essay's on, or spreadsheets, or whatever.
With the Xbox come homestation, and.net &c &c. M$ seem intent on turning computers into a platform just to run M$ content, A passive platform not unlike TV and redunent in comparison to it.
Going back to the bandits example, they have left the well, to set up government in the village. However, The well still exists and people still need the water, no doubt newer bader bandit will move in, but perhaps people might learn to carry the water for themselves for once.
I think that what this guy is getting at, is not the specs of the graphics being bad, but rather that the artwork, esp the textures isnt up to snuff. Personally ive always found the feel of the unreal engine to render things a bit dirty or ugly. It seems sad that they are continueing the tradition.

The problem is that, at least with computer screens crt really is a dead tech, Apple have even gone to the point of ditching crt for lcd's in their range. While the things will be around for years, development on them has all but stopped in favour of lcd, For one simple reasion: Everyone who need a crt has already got one and people are not going to buy a new crt when they could get an lcd (this is john q public we're talking about)
This company has done the equivant of inventing a slightly better video player when the world runs on DVD.
But why is it that everyone is persuming that work is going overseas just becasue the workers are cheaper, doesnt anyone hold the opinion that the absolute lunacy that are some american copyright/patent laws might serve to drive software development overseas rather then the price to developer ratio (People have been locked up for breaking the DMCA after all).
I give an example, company a comes out with a file format, and since this company has a strong position in the market a lot of people use it, therefore company b needs someone to reverse this, lets say encrypeted format. Now call be a cynical old fart but in America wouldnt this just degenerate into a long draw out legal contest, where no one wins, while other countries which simply have no copyright laws to speak of, like china, would finish and distribute their version quicker then you could say CDR.
Im of the opinion that half the trouble with doing any kind of business in America is that you constantly need someone from the legal department looking over your shoulder IMHO.
Also another problem in America is that there is a business culture of "hardball" where the objective isnt too make the best product but to send the other guy broke, or failing that buy them out ala M$.
