  1. Re:In Soviet Russia... on A Few Hardware Bits · · Score: 1

Looks like you're using the "infinite monkeys and typewriters" scheme to generate Ask Slashdots again...

Hmm.. versus the "space is a vacuum" scheme of generating posts?

  2. No Photos? on Hundreds Spot Fireballs In Colorado, Nearby States · · Score: 5, Funny

Was I the only one that was expecting some photos at the daily *camera*?

Anyway, for those of you jealous of Colorado residents, take out your geeked out keychain and stare into the bright blue light. Now step outside and look at the sky. Yeah... it was a lot like that...

And don't worry, they should go away in a few hours.

  3. Bad investments on The Magic Box Hoax · · Score: 1

I too have dumped many a dollar into entrepreneurs claiming to have a 'magic box'.

They usually delay on delivery of the goods... but I keep the faith alive. Sex is after all, the holy grail of geekdom.

If it is a scam, I concede it truly is a beautiful one.

So they're not left out from having an overpriced alternative to paper and pencil that they will stop playing with after 2 weeks.

Every 6 months I vow to get organized and pick mine up for a week... but It's just not that hard for me to remember:

    2pm: Wake up
    2:01pm: Sit down at computer
    6am: Go to bed.

" In the cool night Stephen recalled some of his favorite science fiction stories."

It's a shame he doesn't mention specific science fiction titles that Stephen Hawking liked. I would love to join his book of the month club! Ever since Oprah's club closed, i've been lost at Border's... Anyone know any cool SciFi book discussion web sites?

  8. Harnessing the power of the sims engine. on Everything I Needed To Know, I Learned From "The Sims" · · Score: 1

I am a student in complex systems and was wondering if there is a way to use the sims environment, and game engine to run experiments.

This would be very infinitely interesting, as one could simulate all sorts of neat things.

What I would be interested in doing is changing parameters, or even the objects themselves (apparently in C++) of the people to have different behaviors and rules.

Creatures is a game that allows for this sort of devoloper interaction and i was wondering if Maxis gave The Sims this capability.
