Exactly...Email is my companies primary form of communication and I have to check it all day. We are just now starting to use Lotus Sametime IM, but that will never replace the ol' email. Someone will come up with a cross between email and IM so its all the same. If you are "active" you receive the information as an instant message, if you are "in-active" or offline the information is stored on server. One interface to rule them all.
I know I'm not alone when it comes to shunning away from LCDs, Plasmas, etc.. because of price vs. quality. Unless you have true space limitations is it really worth paying more for something that can't compare quality wise just cause its smaller? YES, there are plently of LCDs that are better than cheaper CRTs I know. I for one am very excited for the advent of thin CRT technology currently being introduced. They won't be as thin as LCDs or Plasma's they will cost slightly more than traditional CRTs and offer a nice price for performance middle ground.
I have worked with an old D language from Teleuse

Walmart to Push RFID

RFIDs have the potential to be an excellent inventory tracking device but as this discussion has brought to light there are many issues regarding privacy the public is still concerned about. Rather than let suppliers come to grips with these issues over time Walmart has flexed its buying power over its suppliers and will force them to do what THEY want regardless of what the public or these supply companies believe. I work in the manufacturing sector and I have seen Walmart do this all to many times. For example, Walmart more often then not will force a company like Black and Decker or Eureka to produce a model just for them that fits Walmart's ideal price no matter how much the quality of the product will be affected. I just want to point out that although this article portraits Walmart as a champion of technolgy with this move, IMHO their bullying is not fair or just....
People seem to convince themselves they NEED all these new gadgets, but honestly A simple $20 planner and paper notebooks/3 ring binders are all the average student really needs to keep organized when used in conjunction with a good desktop computer. Anything beyond that is nice, but not required by any means. Use the money for more imporant things like beer... haha.
Ive had an HDTV for about 6 months now and I can't wait for more programming in my area. Larger cities seem to offer a decent amount of programming but mine seems far behind ( Rochester, NY ) I guess I will just have to sit back and watch my progressive scan DVDs for a while.
They can't seem to ever get their own operating system right how are they gonna emulate anyone else?
