When the Internet was first starting, I read Slashdot every day and learned so much. I didn't make it doing cool web stuff and went back to accounting, and somehow stopped visiting. But the knowledge and comfort with technology that I gained by reading Slashdot have helped me become a tech-savvy accountant who can use web-based tools (Xero, Dropbox, Skype) to help clients from all over out of my home. This sounds trivial to all of you, but other accountants I know are amazed that I know about and can use all these new programs.
I remember the OMG Ponies!!! and posted congratulations in the marriage proposal thread. Thank you for creating this amazing community.
