I signed up with AltaVista for free email, and after sending out four resumes, my account was shut down. I inquired and was told that I am a spammer. I complained and they didn't reply. I filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and did not receive replies from them either, which is very odd because I've gotten written responses in the past when complaining with the BBB. I must say something shady appears to be going on these days in security. Anyway, you are warned, AltaVista accused me wrongly.
I don't want to put anything that transmits radio waves near my body. These corporate fools who create this technology never bother to test its effects on people. Or no, I should say they do know now that cell phones are dangerous; that's proven. So why should I put some Hitachi piece of junk on my hip? Wanton lust for technology will not make me do it.
They've been outdone effects-wise, and frankly I am so tired of Hollywood getting down on its knees to beg for the money of little children by making bad movies just-for-them. It was perverse when Spielberg did it in Jurassic Park, and seeing it happen with Star Wars just makes me sick.

"When Mary gets home from work and goes to her PC to check e-mail, the PC isn't just sitting there. It's working for a biotech company"
Just a few obvious questions:
Is Mary being paid for letting this private company use her computer?
Is Mary not concerned that someone working for this company might break into her computer, either to serve company interests or not?
Does Mary realize that if she gives over her computer without being paid then she is being exploited?
Why is it that these kinds of stupid ideas keep being so enthusiastically presented on Slashdot? Is it being run by teenagers or something??
