  4. Voxels and games... on 3D Visualization Moves Forward · · Score: 1

I'd like to point out that the space battles in the upcoming strategy game Master of Orion 3 will be rendered using voxels, according to posts made by the programmers in the discussion boards (which are too poorly organized to search through quickly, but the posts ARE there.) Hopefully, this will not cripple the game.

The Oscars are awarded to the best actor/actress, director, etc. No one says "Let's award Oscars to Americans because the Oscars is an American institution." Saying, "Let's award the Hugo to a Brit because it's a British award" is foolish. As an American, seeing non-Americans win the Oscars is fine with me - the deserved it, most likely.

"Besides, the Hugo awards have to maintain our British heritage and what better way then to award the Hugo to a British author?"

Doesn't saying "This British writer wins the Hugo because he is British" inherently indicate "If we actually judged a British author based on his works, he wouldn't win?"

"One can hardly argue that the books are for childeren due to the use of Magic and Witchcraft."

Ah, yes. Just as books like The Indian in the Cupboard and the Chronicles of Narnia MUST be for adults, since they contain magic.

Did anyone else notice a comment under user feedback at ebay, claiming that Romero won an auction and didn't pay for the item? Kind of what I felt after buying Daikatana.
