  1. "Cheap" support on IT Departments Fear Growing Expertise of Users · · Score: 1, Insightful

If you want complete control put the dumb terminals back. Otherwise let the creative users solve their problems and stand back. Sysadmins can still control access to sensitive data. If a user screws up a machine, slap the standard install image back on and try try again. There really is no reason for a PC "support" position

An institution that maintains an account with a Federal Reserve Bank generally can become a Fedwire participant. Participants use Fedwire to instruct a Federal Reserve Bank to debit funds from the participant's own Federal Reserve account and credit the Federal Reserve account of another participant
Instead of focusing on all the bad things that can happen, think about a positive aspect. Security is a relative concept anyway, look at paypal. How about scaling this system up an order of magnitude and voila, Digital Cash. Visa/mastercard won't like it but so what. We really do need a digital currency and as I recall this is a function of the federal government.

Wow, Just heard on the radio a State of emergency with a 9pm curfew has been declared. The Sheriff and police will arrest ANYONE on the streets. So much for my looting spree. Broome County (Binghamton Area) is in upstate NY BTW. The Funny Thing is I still have power.

The overhead of paper money is FAR less than plastic. Money is made and released, and the governments obligation ends there.

I guess all those secret service guys can take a long lunch today. Oh and those fellows in the federal reserve system too. Who pays for the overhead of the EFT system? bet you'd be singing a different tune if there was a charge on your next direct deposit check of 2.5% for "processor fees"

When will digital tech be mature enough that people will have the same confidence in it as other mediums i.e. paper. If I'm not mistaken one responsibilty of the US Federal government is the issuance of a common currency. The reason for this I believe is to promote interstate commerce throught the use of one standard. My opinion is that this is actually the Govts responsibility. what do you all think.
