Lets say Nintendo has operating costs of 100 million dollars. (A very convenient, round number.)
Last year, their theoretical income was 300 million. Giving them a profit of 200 million.
80% of that profit is 160 million. So, for their *profits* to be down 80% from last year, their income would have to be 140 million.
They are not losing money, they are making less profit. In fact, unless their drop in profit is greater than 100%, it is *impossible* for them to be losing money. Get it?
Most geeks won't be able to afford the latest model android GF, and will have to wait until the price goes down. Until then they can extend the life of their current bio-girl with silicone upgrades.
Seriously, I think it would be really interesting if the future android market followed along the lines of the PC market.
A few big name corporations that provide cheap models designed to be appealing to a broad range of people.
Those with technical skills will buy the parts online and learn to train the AI on their own. More work, but the quality of the parts are superior. The androids last much longer because their owner knows them inside and out, and can upgrade/replace parts as needed.
It would be kind of creepy to get a metal skeleton in the mail though. And you know that one guy who has 7 PCs? You walk into their apartment and it's like a gathering of bikini models in various stages of dysfunction.
Alternately, you're saying that you have no interest in what poor people have to say.
Well yeah. I'd hate to think that somewhere, a guy is working on his "free hosting" webpage instead of getting a job to cover the 7$ a month hosting bill. If they can't figure out how to make just a paltry sum, or have a friend host them, I seriously doubt they have the brainpower to say anything interesting.
Working period is 8 hours a day? Where do they still do that?
Most places have you do lunch, many places start an hour or two early, and have people that stay an hour or two late. Parts of the building are lit 24/7.
I did some temp work at "State Farm" headquarters, and during a heat wave, the electric company would call and the SF would turn off half, or most of the lights. This was to lighten the load on the power grid.
Woah. You know what I would do with this? Photonic light bomb. Just keep pouring light into it until you could take out a city if you release the light all at once.
Are you kidding me? If you want anything besides the bare bones minimum specs, you're pay at LEAST 900$. It would have been 1000$ if I didn't get the memory from a 3rd party.
500 base
+100 for 80GB drive and 1.42 processor +100 for Super drive +50 for tax +150 for 1GB 3rd party memory.
ta da. 900$
And would you like to make a bet on the 900$ will be worth 150$ in a year?
"But the 50mm fans are very noisy and induce a lot of case vibration because they have to turn so fast. These are usually on the chip set. I have been unable to find a solution. Does anyone else have one?"
That doesn't seem like a good idea to me. After Apple comes out with the new intel chips, there will be a new OS/X version for it. Then it will take a year for all the vendors to catch up and for Apple to patch the thing.
If they wanted Macs, I'd go ahead and get the macs now. 5 years from now when they're looking to replace them, the Mactels should be ready for a production enviroment.
Wasn't there supposed to be a new 48v electrical system standard for all cars by now?
It would allow people to hook up better electronics to their vehicle, plus it would make the car more energy efficient. The example I heard was that instead of a belt driven AC unit, it would be electical.
The article I had read at the time stated that the standard would be implemented in 2005. Does anyone know about this?
It's *his* Kingdom. He can do whatever the hell he wants to do to it. And they're *his* people, they will live as well or as poorly as he allows him to.
Why do you think all Western countries have abandoned monarchies? Sure, there are some figureheads, but they don't have the power like they used to. They all used to have it.
Exxon went in and profited from the situation? No kidding! What would you suggest? Another useless oil embargo where no oil company can go in and drill for oil? You know that would last all of five seconds.
Go in, tear out dictators, install Democracy. It's the only way the people have a voice.
Such codes are in place to prevent home hackery like this, especially in the case of electrical wiring. The potential for his modifications to fail are astronomical.
I agree! Think of the dangers of brewing your own beer, working on your car, or even programming! Almost all viruses were programmed without any kind of government oversight.
There should be codes that are enforced by the governemnt that touch upon everything you can possibly do. To protect you, and others, from yourself.
Seriously, the codes are there to protect people from substandard wiring. But to insist that you have no right to modify the wiring in your own house is too "Big Brother" for me.
"Download the Adobe's 10Q for 2Q05 and you will see that a significant amount of Adobe's Windows sales are from their Intelligent Document desktop products, which make up 36% of total sales..."
Lets see, sales to Windows platform outsell Mac 3 to 1. (page 24)
Some data on the money made from sales for certain groups of software...
And that's it. Any claim that Macs are 50% of the Photoshop market is pure guesswork using this data.
Are you kidding me?
Reports from people using a well tuned HDTV set are "It's like looking through a window."
It's a huge step up from DVDs.
"I have faith they'll make the right decisions when the official x86 macs come out a year or so from now ."
Are you kidding me? It took Apple 1.5 years just to upgrade OSX from 10.3 to 10.4, and 10.4 came out very buggy.
You really believe they'll be able to do a complete platform change in a year?
Actually, I have about 50 webcomics bookmarked. Achewood really does suck, I've read the whole archive to see what people were raving about.
Maybe it takes a certain type of personality to like Achewood, it has plenty of readers.
Oh man. Ok, lets go over some numbers.
Lets say Nintendo has operating costs of 100 million dollars. (A very convenient, round number.)

'She' only has actuators in her upper torso. I gather from the article, she can't move her legs or hips.
Where have you been getting your lap dances from? Comatose Patty's house of girls?
Most geeks won't be able to afford the latest model android GF, and will have to wait until the price goes down. Until then they can extend the life of their current bio-girl with silicone upgrades.

Oh please. She can "breathe" and flutter her eyes. She's slightly more active than lawn furniture, even a secretary has to answer the phone.
I don't see you coming up with any useful suggestions.

That Dell you linked to comes with a monitor and a printer. How is that competitive with the Mini?
And later on, if you want more power, you should be able to do a "Drop in replacement" of your processor with a dual core CPU.
Or if you wait long enough, a quad core.
"Btw. when did mini's cost 900?"
Are you kidding me? If you want anything besides the bare bones minimum specs, you're pay at LEAST 900$. It would have been 1000$ if I didn't get the memory from a 3rd party.

Water cooling.
"I don't know any PC users who are still using a system they bought six years ago, and does half the things I can do with mine."
Well of course not, because they can actually afford something better by now. Where Mac users have been driven into poverty by Apple.
Yeah, that's why my 900$, band new Mac Mini was only getting offers of 600$. Losing 1/3 the value in a month isn't "Fairly close".
Maybe Macs didn't lose their value back when their cpu speeds barely budged, but it's not the case these days.
I sold my Mac Mini yesterday to a Mac user. I wasn't impressed by it at all.
I plan on putting the money towards a really nice dishwasher.

I'd be very surprised if you could get OS/X running on AMD. Maybe VMware will have the ability to install OS/X by then?

Maybe you mean 40%. Because the most efficient thing I've heard of is a matter-antimatter reaction, and that's 200% efficient.
Theoretically.
Huh?
What do you mean 'Did not belong to the King."
It's *his* Kingdom. He can do whatever the hell he wants to do to it. And they're *his* people, they will live as well or as poorly as he allows him to.

Well yes, but I was under the impression that it wasn't water ice. Things like rivers of liquid nitrogen and such.
I'm not an astrophysicist, so I have no idea what the current theorys are or what has been proven.
