  1. Yeah, it's great, isn't it?

This "clarification feature" sounds awfully suspect, a lot like the Snopes "apologist feature."

Kind of like all these ACs spamming anti-Trump FUD.

Would someone PLEASE explain how a launch pad would be "cut in two" by a border wall that would sit on the US-Mexico border?

Here is the nonexistent facility in a tricky spot right next to the boundary line in a swamp area. Looks as though the government is doing a survey to figure out what they have to work with. I mean orange man bad.

  3. It doesn't matter here. Slashdot posts some real news, some FUD pieces that are completely counteractive, and some total fake news. They all have a particular bias based on what the editors have been told to "push" to improve SEO rankings for particular items. If you dig deeply enough, you may find some definition of telecom being just that, telephone service-related stuff and all its 48V equipment, and you may find tons of laws where that is the presumption to this day, but someone somewhere is trying to redefine telecom to be Internet service or phone and Internet service or cable television or perhaps hand-delivered mail because that also would fit etymologically under "telecom."

Snopes is basically run by a guy and his cat. The guy sits in his recliner all day and trolls his own site with biased opinions. And takes tons of money in from the Soros crowd. And then you have initiatives used where THESE are the people who are supposed to "vet" news merely because they have a popular website. Forget Netcraft! If Snopes confirms it, it MUST be true.

I suppose Americans' attention spans are so low these days that you don't even need a real Ministry of Truth. You just have to find a popular website that has a bias to begin with and then get the operators on your payroll. It's sad where things have gone.

  5. That's not the idea, really. Tim Berners-Lee is like Steve Wozniak. He started with something good in the early days, and that was it. You can't give him credit for innovating over three or four decades when it was really one invention three or four decades ago that he deserves credit for. Not to draw any criticism of the former, but Wozniak has only been able to invent flops since leaving in the early days and going off on his own. Someone was bound to invent HTTP or an HTTP-like "thing" or an extension of gopher, and if it hadn't been for Berners-Lee, it might have taken another few years for someone else to do it. Or maybe not.

Woz and Berners-Lee are both great guys, and you can go so far as to call them authorities in their realms on what was and has been, but that doesn't mean that they know what should be or will be.
