    Hmm,

Well considering they are using Reiser they are being stupid running 2.4.2 From my recollection it was a little hairy back then. Considerable issues. ABout 2.4.11 is where I stoped having probs with corruption.

The quality isn't too bad now

Um, the quality is damn fine. I stream only 128 Kbps mp3 from digitallyimported and have absolutely no probs with quality.
Get decent bandwidth, quality is the least of your worries.

  4. Waste of Space on Google Allows Sponsored Rankings...In Ads · · Score: 2, Redundant
This would only be worthy of comment if it were actually worrying. ie if a given company's pages were ranked higher due to payments to google rather than doc relevance.

Given that it isn't the case, this isn't worthy of comment.

    Hold on! I've commented! Damn!

  5. Palm Inc. owns their IP now... on Be Sues Microsoft for Violations of Antitrust Laws · · Score: 2, Informative

As above. Palm Inc of PalmOS fame owns Be's assets etc including their IP and the OS. Perhaps this has something to do with that? No idea why Palm would want to hassle MS.

  6. He didn't cross-reference it. on A Timeline of the Future · · Score: 1

Hmm, apparently he predicts that by 2003 we will have a 10GHz CPU. Then in another page he predicts a 10GHz CPU by 2006. Hmm, they are one page apart. Did he forget? Also, he predicts 11 TB on a credit card sized thing, then a few lines later talks about 1TB/cu cm storage density,... um, what did they use for the credit card? This guy needs some people to read the whole doc as I just did.

  7. Re:What's wrong with the installer? on Libranet GNU/Linux 2.0 Coming Soon · · Score: 1

Hmm, I suspect it is all relative regarding installers. I use debian everywhere it matters, Solaris where debian would be silly. To me a red hat install is painful, I want to get dirtier than that, but on the other hand, Solaris 8 install via serial cable is hell (my most recent experience being over 6 hours last night). Debian is nice, it's in the middle. They've discovered ncurses at least, which is an improvement. I will admit that dselect can be a bit unnerving for newbies though.
