Consumer grade stuff is often used in the planning of something big. Now if they actually recorded something off that and burned it right to CD, that would be a little more frightening. Oh, and on a personal note to slashdot, ARG! MY EYES! This purple on black theme?!
Close, but more likely it'll be MSDOS 2005 because it'll most likely ship around '07

I agree. A friend of mine's son has Epilepsy, and can't even look at a computer screen at less then 70 hertz for more then a couple minutes. Introducing a flicker into movies I'm sure will be an eyesore for most people (think: 60 hertz, high res, hours or more looking at the screen) and an obstical for others that prevents them from seeing movies in theaters at all.

Microsoft didn't design it to stop working after any amount of time. In a number of countries it is a requirement that products are "registered" (this doesn't affect the UK).
As of April 15th Office 2000 SR1 no longer needs to be registered in those affected countries but it appears that things have gone a bit wrong.
Instead of bashing Microsoft, learn the facts.

Personally, I'm tired of seeing all the dupes and the servers go down! These people sell advertising/subscriptions, and seem to be under the illusion that they are a real company. If they are ever going to be more then just a bunch of drinking buddies with offices, then they will get their act together and learn a couple things about releasing a QUALITY product. Dupe notices alert the editors that the current level of profecionalism is unacceptable, and their audiance wont take it.

From reading errors in O'Reilly books, I have to say it didn't bug me at all. Yes, I saw some (incorrectly matched start/end tags... etc.) but as I really already had the content down it wasn't a big deal.
It's quite obvious that the server didn't get slashdotted the first time, so they are using april 1st as an excuse to try and try again (and again and again)...
Wow it does. Spiffy, thanks.
I've only tried it on my main computer, running Windows XP with that crazy Alt-Tab powertoy installed. Alt-Esc is just like Alt-Tab except instant
Alt + Esc
Much faster. If someone's comming, you hit the Alt + Esc and BOOM, it's Excel time.
Dude! It's grayed out and does nothing! Give it a rest!
5 times.
No tag.

Hehe...
Good humor.
No no, it's much more then that...

What's your phone number?
Yes.
Now you've got my point.

PowerPoint made the format.
It's POWERPOINTS format. OpenOffice is only using it.
If PowerPoint couldn't read the file correctly, it's because OpenOffice didn't save it right.

You want to complain about that, just call up ATI/whatever company's shit is causing it. You can't run Linux on faulty hardware/drivers...
