some of you seem to be taking the "4 lines of code" thing a bit too literally...
it's only a bloody analogy.
the core meaning is a rule or command that just IS, and if it ever does get "discovered", it'll probably be as an abstract idea that takes a lot of dedication to realise yourself... in the way that "divine truths" are apparently discovered through meditation and other activities..
maybe it was already discovered by buddhists reaching nirvana

doesn't this case kind of show how over the top patents can be? i mean, is there no limit to the broadness of patents? surely one company shouldn't own an entire industry like that?
oh wait, Microsoft already do...
um... does anyone else remember when the PS2 first appeared there were some government concerns because they said a PS2 could be used as missile guidance systems...? with a proper OS available for it, doesn't this make it even easier for potential "terrorists" (merely playing a violent game will probably soon render you a terrorist in the eyes of the US anyway i guess) to put the PS2 to mischief?
