The device used to play the "Doomsday Disc" was not a standard LaserDisc player.
The device was a Phillips player which was controlled from a BBC Master computer (not sure of interface) which has a genlock device.
Now I'm sure there are some copies out there still... schools never chuck away old hardware... but I do know that neither BBC Masters nor the Phillips player are still manufactured.

Since when have TV licences been "popular" especially in the UK. Especially with the draconian methods sometimes employed to enforce them.

Actually ... Outlook (certainly later versions) only send one "Out of Office" autoreply to any email address.
