  1. Re:Balance on Warcraft III: The Single Player Experience · · Score: 2, Informative

As was the case with starcraft, this should be a good game right out of the box first time. After that comes the expansion (aka the tweaking) were the characters are adjusted based on the playing styles of gamers and unintended exploits. That's if Blizzard lives up to it's reputation, of course :D

why? There is a theoretical reason in the case of the frogs (at least in the teachers mind), but with the case of a person..... Well, it sounds as if your using a threat to tell people that you don't agree with the idea of discecting animals (for whatever reasons you have).

Perhaps saying that it stifles creativity is somewhat off. Perhaps if might be better to say that it makes it more likely that students fail to recieve adequate breadth of experience to prepare them for situations where the computer is not pertinant.

The only problem with the projecting would be the fact that the system is designed for transmittion into the eye rather than reception from the eye. I'm quite willing to assume that the protype was designed to minimize weight and power consumption and is not capable of receiving information like that. But it'd sure be cool - a definately worth the added weight if they integrated some additional technology to allow the device to read where your attention was.

  5. Rf readers on Sun Joins RFID Program · · Score: 3, Interesting

The issue of the cost of the tags is looked at heavily in the article, but that's a long run consideration. In order for the cost of the tags to really be applicable the stores have to have the readers installed in the checkouts. Readers which are likely to be horribly expensive - and management drones are notoriously tight when it comes to spending money on "new" (to them) technology.
