So I'm a fanboy if I would like to have a powerful, advanced OS, written for multimedia on the desktop, on my desktop, but i'm not a fanboy if I use an open source server OS and massage it into a desktop OS? Gotcha.

Oh this will NEVER work, it won't even put a DENT in the countries energy needs, it's all a POINTLESS endeavor.

If I read one more "once 3 years ago in band camp I installed Windows it was all MESSED UP" post I am going to run screaming from the building. Attention fellow nerds: YOUR ONE BAD EXPERIENCE WITH WINDOWS does not define the platform. Here is why Linux fails: I just read on the GAIM website that there was an upgrade that fixed broken Yahoo protocol. So I downloaded this tarball, now what? Why can't I just put in my WoW discs, have an install wizard start, ask me for root pw and then install the program/WINE and put a link under the games menu for me in KDE? I just installed this awesome new Ubuntu thing everyone is talking about, but my mp3's don't work? THAT is why linux fails.

Technology has existed for some time to curb our need for oil, but our government won't promote this. The whole 'restucturing the Middle East' agenda is based around trying to procure our oil on the cheap, and many more of our armed forces are going to have to die (it will probably take a major, MAJOR conflict with heavy losses before the US government decides to start seriously looking for alternatives). I'm glad I didn't join the Air Force a few years ago when I was contemplating it. I went to MEPPS and everything. Lucky me.

Being a Fargo ND native, I can tell you I am not surprised. A lot of people here may be simple and naive, but threats from banks and other large companies don't frighten anyone anymore. The only reason their support centers and helpdesks are here is because of the low cost of living, which translates to lower wages. No, their not going anywhere, unless the can find people in Taiwan to man phones and can speak perfect english. BTW, for those of you who question our technical acumen, Pat Volkerding graduated from MSU just across the river in Moorhead, MN. Go get 8.1, its yummy :)
