    Is there any special circuitry that says THIS ACTION REQUIRES THE HIGHEST AUTHORIZATION?

    It might be possible to fire the missile without authorization, but non-authorized head would behave as if made from concrete.

    If BSD people consider this a slap in the face, what do they consider it when a company takes their code and puts it under a closed proprietary license?

    There is a difference between adding a code and a license and just removing license. Even - gasp! Microsoft retained BSD licenses in code they used. License removal - - a big NO-NO without authors consent.

    The idea was to use code both in BSD projects and Linux projects. Stripping BSD license just effectively forks code.

    BTW BSD license should remain in code whole, "attribution" is not enough.

    It's like a phone book. The numbers aren't copyrightable, like the actual statements in a mechanically generated header file. They're simply the simplest representation of certain facts.


    Sometimes header files like this, but often they include macro and data structures, which could be complex. Those rather copyrightable.

    Windows isn't just the fancy GUI, it's a standard interface to non-standard hardware. Anyone who used DOS for gaming will remember the absolute nightmare of getting sound, video, network and CD drivers all running for every game.

    Come on, there was no need for network drivers, unless you are talking about modems ;)

    Otherwise Atheros drivers are free - BSD and GPL licensed.

    Just to see what would happen, I once asked a Best Buy droid which of their desktop computers would be capable of running Linux.

    Perhaps you named him 'droid' for a reason ;) . There should not be any coherent answer there - Best Buy droids are not educated in any way by company. Best Buy basically is a box pusher.

    Regarding to oil - Russia exported 6.7 bn barrels and Saudi Arabia 9.1 (2005). Liquefied gas : Russia : 0 out of 6,827 bn cubic feet. Dry gas: 7656 out of worlds 28519 bn cubic feet (2004)

    The British may have a history of tyranny but we have over 2000 years of history of rebellion against unpopular rule. The USA doesn't which, to be honest, scares me.

    So American revolution was against popular rule?

    American Civil War was just to have some fun?

    By the way US did not have tyranny to revolt against.. Democracy is somehow better way to get rid of unpopular government.

    I call BULLSHIT!. The US always takes the political high ground complaining about Chinese political prisoners, Guantanamo Bay is just one of hundereds of Bush's secret prisons where he keeps HIS political prisoners, this one just happens to no longer be secret.

    Political prisoners?

    What did they do?

    Were they on political rally or on civil disobedience demonstrations or in peace camp or on strike?

    Can you see difference between political activity and shooting people?

    So if you cannot get cheap Chinese DVD players any more - because they're making EVD now instead, and in fact EVD is cheaper because they're not paying a licence fee - the cost of players goes up. So, there are less people buying DVD players, less of a market for DVDs, and people buy the cheap EVD players and buy pirated EVDs that are straightforward dubs of DVDs for a couple of quid a time from a guy down the flea market.

    Then people will buy cheap DVD players made in Taiwan, Malaysia,Indonesia, Mexico - whatever place has cheap work force. And the same people already buying pirated DVDs. Why should somebody have at home two different players?
