    The only thing that might prove is that Dell has a better marketing team that can convince people they need a new machine every two years.

    Not when this trend has been consistent for the past decade or so. Macs tend to last longer.

    I don't see what's ridiculous about performing regular restarts of a mission critical system.

    How about the fact that you have a mission critical system that requires regular reboots? I would rather the system be fixed so that it no longer requires reboots. For a bonus, build in some resilience so that it resists common problems associated with long running apps.

    We're talking about the way they operate, not their health problems (hitler went vegetarian due to gastric problems). Bush43's behavior is disturbingly similar to that of our late Fuhrer, and this is something you should care about now. Waiting for him to make lampshades out of Jews would be rather too late.

    This is insane. A gram of antimatter would cost almost more money than exists on earth if I recall. You thought nukes were expensive? wait till you see the military budget if this gets taken seriously.

    Point of order: that's not relevant until some aliens show up and try to sell it to us. The question is, how do you create it efficiently, and what's your power source?

    I still don't see anything that, singly, or in combination, precludes distributing unlicensed patent implementations under the terms of the GPL. In fact, I'm sure it happens all the time.

    Well, maybe it does happen, but it isn't legal. The post you responded to lays it out explicitly: in order to distribute a program that contains a patented bit of code, you must have a free license for that code that allows redistribution.

    From the license: For example, if a patent license would not permit royalty-free redistribution of the Program by all those who receive copies directly or indirectly through you, then the only way you could satisfy both it and this License would be to refrain entirely from distribution of the Program.

    You do know that the assault weapon ban didn't ban any assault weapons, right? It only bans scary looking weapons. Most crimes are committed with pistols, which are still legal.

    With all the rules surrounding the 'debates', I wouldn't be surprised if there was a rule against that.

    Sell your stock when the fiscal year starts, transfer it to a country that taxes you based in residency, live there less time than the requireed to become taxable (normally six months) then live somewhere else during the fiscal year.

    Tell me, how is the stock profit not income earned in the US? The strategy you describe relies on laws that concern taxation of wages, not earnings on stock sales.

    A couple of a/c's don't seem to believe you - maybe you should have given the names of those abducted along with some links.

    Here's a link - finding out about Kim's penchant for kidnapping Japanese citizens (present count around a dozen) and taking them to N Korea takes about 30 seconds (hail google). He even kidnapped a South Korean director and forced him to make a movie.

    Yes. Just because the Nazis were evil doesn't mean that the regular army are not allowed to defend their homeland. Joining the army is no crime.

    He had the chance to stand up and do the right thing against the "patriot" act, and he voted for it!

    It's not like anybody had read the stupid thing. It was drafted in the middle of the night and the senators were told that voting against it was tantamount to treason, days after Al Queda knocked over the WTC.

    For instance if Yoko Ono were passing information from North Korea with the knowledge of the local government China may not look favorably upon it and it could cause more than a little tension.

    Um, why would a Japanese woman be passing information to a country that routinely kidnaps her countrymen?

    Sure you can. Ever see the signs that read "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone?" Real property rights are what allow for this.

    Bars aren't public space. Shopping malls usually are. It's rather difficult to toss someone from the mall just because you don't like them.

    Only public property is considered a free-speech zone really...and even then it only applies to the government...not individuals (which is beside the point you are making). If you are in my house and use language I don't approve of I can have you removed because I own the property (actually I would ask you to leave first...then have you removed if you didn't comply).

    Free speech only applies to individuals. The government doesn't really have rights - it has duties and powers. Also, free speech applies to private property that is open to the public - you can't really toss someone out of such a place because you don't like what they're saying.
