Hmmm, I would say that overrated would simply mean that the current rating is too high, even if it hasn't been modded up. Would you also say that an unmoderated post shouldn't be modded as underrated?
Ummm, I'm pretty sure that was all supposed to hysterically funny (as it was to me), and not meant to be taken so seriously. I'm hoping you comment was supposed to be funny too. If it was... I apologize.
This is fair. I didn't mean to mis-represent the BSD crowd... they're a fine bunch of people on the whole. In retrospect I was thinking more of GPL people (now the GPL folks will be coming after me... great!).
Believe it or not, not all/.ers are linux bigots. Or even free software bigots. Nvidia is a big company that should have it's sh*t together enough no to make mistakes like this. They should probably realize that the may have a hard enough time selling their (I assume) binary only drivers to the FreeBSD crowd, without alienating them with this slip-up.
That said, free software proponents shouldn't pan Nvidia for distributing binary only drivers. They are in a competative field, and need to protect their IP (oh, I can see the flames coming now). The fact that they are supporting a free operating system at all (especially one with a relativly small installation base), is cause for celebration.
There was a recent article on/. about Microsoft making a deal with a college that would require every student to take a course in.NET or C# (I forgot which).
The story can be found here. It was the University of Waterloo here in Canada.
Actually, if the moderators were thinking the same thing as me (a scary thing), they found the second line funny. Usually I would say that these Beowulf comments are getting way to overplayed, but the pumpkin patch part made me laugh my head off.
Maybe this isn't timesharing we're talking about (though that was my first thought too), but rather the submission of batch job. Has anybody who has actually read the article want to shed some light on this;)
Yes, yes, I know, "Why haven't you read the article!"
I know this isn't exatly what you talking about, but it would seem important to this discussion to mention Ximian Connector.
The folks at Ximian claim that it will allow their Outlook killer (Evolution), to connect to and use all of the functionality of, an Exchange 2000 server.
Has anybody had any erxperience with it?
Brave words... and worth considering. While they may not be perfect corporate, or net citizens, perhaps Microsoft deserves more credit than we give them.

Can you also mount a network share on A: if you have no floppies?
probably... I'm not too sure though. We may have to try it where I work though...
some of our development crew are running out of alphabet!
Two floppies and 24 other mounted partitions is the max.
Just a little tip... you windows users can use that often unused B drive letter,
by mounting a network share there.
Offtopic... yes, but I though I'd share anyway
