I'm reasonably sure that quote is from the Notebooks of Lazarus Long, by Robert A Heinlein. I'd be completely sure if I could find my copy. Here is a site which apparently has the Notebooks transcribed; that quote is included.
Not that I believe any/.-er worth his or her salt would need step-by-step instructions, but go HERE for a tutorial on installing Grokster sans spyware. I'm told the same procedure works for KaZaA but I haven't tried it.

You should be able to. In Settings->Advanced, one of the ATI-installed Tabs is called "Other" or "Misc" or something, and has some blue circle-checkboxes in it that allow you to turn off the icon in the system tray.
I don't know how long I had to deal with that stupid ATI icon in the system tray until I read that. Thanks!
