Star Wars Episode II Trailer Tonight
Covant was among several to note that
Fox is going to air a 2 1/2 minute trailer for Star Wars Episode II
tonight,
in between Malcolm and The X-Files. I've seen the trailers released so
far, and really hope that this one can convince me that Clones isn't
going to continue to follow the path to the dark side like Menace did.
In all of the three previews, (including the one that's "for DVD owners only) there's no sign of Jar-Jar. Does this mean we're to be spared the tedium?
Aside, is this particular trailer the same on as is available to DVD owners?
Isn't it strange how advertising an advertisment will increase rating for a show? That's completely backwards, you're all clones!
I'm expecting the net in general won't be working so well for a few minutes there..
Do I get the opportunity to see it ? Nope, because Australia doesnt air something like that
Lets hope the TV-Rippers of the Warez world can rip it and release it.

Maybe this is old news, but Apple lists two trailers (in QuickTime format of course) for Episode II on thier trailer page here:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/
a trailer that isnt in Quicktime format on some miserably slow server thats gettin pounded...
.mpg of it on a 128 kb capped upload line for any masochists who dont feel at home without the struggle to download ;)
but have no fear, ill run it thru my capture card and host a
According to Moriarity at AICN, the script to Attack of the Clones doesn't suck that bad. But who knows how it will turn out... Oh, and this FOX trailer also starts at exactly 8:59:17.
apple should have it soon. just check their trailer section
The basic problem with the new Star Wars movies is that they are litterally incapable of failing. There will be lines of people simply because of the first two words in the title. Episode 3 could be Star Wars: the return of the 17th century parlor comedy, and half of Slashdot would be there.
If George Lucas has betrayed his original vision and is simply milking fans for cash, don't go along with it. At least wait for the rental. I promise you, your life will not be significantly altered if you refuse to pay $10 to be dissapointed for two hours.
In Capitalist America, bank robs you!
..it's a coincidence they show it between X-Files and Malcolm..
You do not exist. Go away.
Oh... it's not The Empire Strikes Back? Damn.
Meesa get modded down? Well that smells stinkowiff.
Nevertheless, I will probably be watching. I only hope they blow the rest of the story with this one.
make sure burn or delete all those jpgs and pornographic dvd rips lying around your hdd
I saw the "forbidden love" trailer at LotR with my entire family (I'd seen it before already). My dad, who loved the original trilogy, moaned at the end. Who'd have thought they could find a worse Annakin than Jake Lloyd? As for Natalie, I'm still wondering what happened to her after The Professional.
I'll probably go to Episode II on opening day, but I'm going to ingest suitable quantities of mood-altering substances first. The only good thing about the first movie was the sound went out for a few minutes, so we got free vouchers and I got to see The Matrix.
OK, if you want to see some crappy pics of the trailer already, look here. If you look at one of the bottom pics, you can see the early Star Destroyer taking off.
BTW: if you didnt read the Phantom Menace book for the movie, you really sort of missed out on a lot...
Any good story has four parts, intro, building, climax, and denoument(sp?)...if you expect Ep. I to have a full story, you totally missed the boat. Ep I was the intro/setup to a lot of background in the dual-trilogy...
Now, i'm by no means saying i wouldnt but a bullet between jar-jar's eyes, i hated that as much as anyone, but, other than jar-jar, the story set up a lot that will come to be explained in the Ep's II and III...
1. Once again, in the book, you get a glimpse of Anakin's rift forming with Obi-Wan,
2. Background on everyone and their dog
3. Yoda's dual warnings...its interesting
4. Does the prophecy of the "one that will bring balance to the force" mean that Darth Vader will finally kill the Emperor and himself, thus ending the line of Sith? Or does it mean Darth Vader will work to decimate the Jedi ranks, making Darth and Palpatine the two Sith, and Obi-wan and Yoda the two Jedi?
5. Basically, if you didnt like Ep I, then just dont go see Ep II, and filter all Star Wars content, and quit bitching. (notice the period, signifying finality)
I know i'm gonna get a bunch of pussy AC's reply to this, but if anyone has intelligent input, feel free.
Beer, now there's a temporary solution -- Homer Jay S.
Nothing I've seen in any of the existing trailers has convinced me otherwise yet. It has the same icky psuedo-realistic CGI look to it, the same bland acting. The only redeming qualities I can foresee is Boba Fett's father which could make for some interesting fight scenes, and of course Portman who looks stunning as always. Other than that it's gonna be a rehash of the eye-candy-plotless filmmaking that Lucas seems to enjoy making now.
This time around I'm certainly not going to go to any lengths to see it on opening day. Maybe 3 weeks after opening day when everyone's had their turn at blasting the movie I'll catch a Monday matinee to see it.
If you simply can't wait for the trailer tonight, you can read the shot by shot description on Dark Horizons. I haven't read anything about this movie so as to not spoil it, but I figure it's ok to read the description of the trailer we are all going to see tonight anyway.

Other than the various rumors at TheForce.net, I found this on AintItCoolNews a few days ago. And it seems that this movie is alot better than Episode I. With Yoda Fight scenes, Amazing scenery of an underground "gotham-like" Coruscant's underworld.
I'm really excited about this, and can't wait to see it. Finally something else to be excited to see on Fox other than the Simpsons (except latley).
I've never been a big SW fan but I really disliked phantom compared to the rest. However I don't think Attack of the Clones can be worse than the Phantom menance (except for the title
I heard Jar Jar is just going to show up in the interplanetary councel.
One thing that has always bothered me about all the Star Wars movies was being able to blow up this gaint ship with one shot (both deathstars, and the base in phantom menance).
When Lucas can come up with some battle sequences that rival Star Trek 2: the Wrath of Kahn then maybe I'll be statisfied with star Wars in general.

Let me put the final nail in the coffin. Here's what he had to say about Jar Jar:
You can read the rest here. I'll believe Lucas has actually made a good movie when I see it finished and on the big screen.
This
... if you screw up Episode 2! On the bright side, if this turns out to be another jar jar menance, we can always have faith that Matrix reloaded and LOTR 2 won't suck.
Hrm.. if Lucas could digitally remaster jar jar out of the next DVD release, that would be awesome.

"Breathing" and "Forbidden Love" are the two trailers I've seen officially posted so far. There's one I got thats labeled "Episode II Teaser trailer" which does seem to have some new footage that the others don't have. And just last night, shown in front of "The Time Machine" was an EP2. trailer which looked to be "Forbidden Love" trailer and the "Teaser Trailer" combined into one.
But am I the only /.'er that will miss this "commercial" on TV, so I can watch the 9|11 CBS special with the camcorder footage inside the world trade center on the 11th? It's commercial-free for two hours, and I think it's going to be a much more meaningful way of spending time with TV tonight(I mean, aren't we the ones that always trashes TV for the "lame" sitcoms and "stupid" filler, that's always on?)
SLASHDOT USER 1: Fuckin' MPAA, man. ..... Hey... what were we talking about?
SLASHDOT USER 2: Totally.
SLASHDOT USER 1: Fuckin' fascists, tryin' to bring us down.
SLASHDOT USER 2: Yeah... they want to take away our fuckin' civil rights. Jack Valenti is such a fuckin' bastard.
SLASHDOT USER 1: Word.
SLASHDOT USER 2: Word.
SLASHDOT USER 1: So, how about that new Star Wars trailer?
SLASHDOT USER 2: Fuckin' cool, man. I'm gonna be there for the 12:01 showing as soon as it comes out!
SLASHDOT USER 1: Totally. I'd gladly pay again and again to see this fuckin' cool movie!
SLASHDOT USER 2: Dunno. Wanna go see a movie about Hobbits?
SLASHDOT USER 1: Sure.
SLASHDOT USER 2: Cool.
SLASHDOT USER 1: Fuckin' MPAA, man.
SLASHDOT USER 2: Totally.
No! Bad! We hate Canada! Nuke them!
Boycott! Boycott! They want to take away your rights! Don't spend another penny supporting their evil lobbyists!
(That is, unless it's a Star Wars sequel, or a movie about Hobbits. Then it's OK.)
Especially when 6 Feet comes on right after.
Why would ANYONE tune into something other than HBO on Sunday night????????
since the CBS 9/11 special will last two hours, I think you can safely watch the short Episode II trailer while DeNiro is working his way through his "brief remarks" and they're setting the statge for the documentary. Or you wait and see the trailer starting March 15 at the Ice Age> movie.
I refuse to pay any attention to the latest Star Wars crap. It's pretty lame to advertise the release of a trailer. Someone needs to stop stroking their ego.
scott
Menace was never targetted at adults. It was targetted at kids. Lucas assumed all the people who saw Star Wars as kids had grown up. Evidently he was only half right, cos you're all still moaning like kids.
Do you complain about the lack of adult material in other films you take your kids to see? No? So why this one?
Check out this if you want to know what the trailer will be like.
Price, Quality, Time. Pick none. What, you thought you had a choice?
I didn't realize that you were going to hide the ads as articles. Where IS that button to hide the advertisements? Will that get rid of this article too?
... you hated the Phantom Menace, don't like Hayden, don't like Portman, don't like the earlier trailers, and don't seem inclined to like this episode either.
Yet, you're going to watch the movie, and to top it off on OPENING DAY ! Is that pathetic or what ? If you don't like the movies and the actors, just don't freaking go see it. Less people on the line and less whiners in the theater the better for the rest of us.

Actually, it appears that task has been done. Salon has a nice story on it and doing a google search on Phantom Edit should enable you to find it. As an aside, rumor has it that Kevin Smith, of Clerks and Jay & Silent Bob fame, was the one behind this.
Last night I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas I'll never know.
And Episode II looks like it's going to be much better. 'Nuff said.
Disney have released a tralier of their new movie [disney.com]
Warning: It's not at 9:00 pm, it's at 8:55. If you tune in at nine, all you'll see is the intro to the X-Files.
Does it make you happy you're so strange?
From what I can *grok* from the trailers I saw, it should be called:
Episode II: The Search for a Story or
Attack of the Cloned movie.
also, I am really worried about the "The beeotch made me do it" subtext of the story. Call me hyper sensitive or whatever, I just wonder if it is not a limp stilt to stand on.
...listen to critics? I think I'd rather decide for myself.

Jar-Jar can be seen briefly in all three trailers. check when Anakin meets Amidala again, Jar-Jar steps to the left from behind Anakin. in nother trailer, Jar-Jar is in a group of people entering the chamber to meet Mace and Yoda. in another, the back of Jar-Jar's head is seen while Obi-wan, Anakin, Padme, and Jar-Jar are sitting around a small table.
hehehe... ;)
I actually find it odd that people complain about the lack of "adult content" in TPM. The film was probably the most densely symbolic to come out in the last five years, with the possible exception of AI.
Amidala ain't dressed in black and red for no reason, folks.
Nope, because Australia doesnt air something like that
Funny thing is here in Brazil they normally don't either, but this once it will happen!
It will even after malcom here too (but we don't have x-files on sundays (sigh!))
Not only is he in the trailer... it may be far worse...
This and this is (no joking!!!) concept art for the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies.
Prey that nothing like that makes the final cut... Not in the film, nor in the game... ever!
"First lesson," Jon said. "Stick them with the pointy end."
I don't get it. When Phantom Menace came out, everyone was extatic, and now suddenly everyone is whining that it sucked?! Please explain.
(I'm not a Star Wars fan, though I've seen the movie, on tape, I believe.)
I suffer from attention surplus disorder.
Do you complain about the lack of adult material in other films you take your kids to see?
You bet I do! I mean, where was the sex in Toy Story or Chicken Run or Shrek? Jeez!
The coolest voice ever.
It's quite appropriate to place the ad for the trailer right before the X-Files. Star Wars is as much a "dead horse" as XF.
Ya Sure! You Betcha!, The_THOMAS
Of course everyone realizes that the effect of commercialization on the Star Wars 'Franchise'. That is, the more it sells the tamer the content material has to be for DVD rentals at Blockbuster or Wal-Mart (both of which enforce a company defined system of family values censorship by removing content that is deemed far to violent/sexual/controversial for the public audience). As well the myriad of mass produced toys, costumes, and related products that will sell and sit packaged on everyone?s walls, or on top of a monitor to declare the owners fandom (consumer = clone, how much does the irony escape the public)
Terminus
I am doing my bit as a (non-)consumer by not renting, buying, or movie-going. Nor am I obtaining illegal copies, because that'd just make me the industry's excuse.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you need to make up your minds. Do you wish to do your bit? Or is suffering the loss of the Hollywood circus a bit too much? Remember, every cent towards your Hollywood DVD rentals, and your movie tickets, is your voluntary cent as a consumer in support of the destruction of your own freedoms.
If you believe in ethical purchasing, paste this message into all film articles on Slashdot. Remind your peers of the damage they may be doing to themselves and society.
I've seen the trailers released so far, and really hope that this one can convince me that Clones isn't going to continue to follow the path to the dark side like Menace did.
I too have seen the trailers so far, and from the looks of things it appears that it's gonna be Titanic in outer space. *bler*
God save us all from Anakin/Amidala leaning off the edge of the death star. "I'm king of the world! YIPEEE!!!"
For godsake the only thing missing from the trailer is the swelling Celine Dion/Jon Williams collaboration piece. Is there actually going to be any attacking in Attack of the clones or what?
In the middle of the Tatooine desert:
Obi Wan: I feel a disturbance in the force.
R2D2: you look like you need a Pepsi(TM)
Obi Wan: Ahh. Refreshing!
Five minute shot of huge Pepsi can rotating in starfield.
Starship Command Center:

Ship Commander: I find Pepsi(TM) to be refreshing.
Hands Darth Vadar a Pepsi
Darth Vadar: Ah..Refreshing!
Five minute shot of huge Pepsi can rotating in starfield.
In the Underwater city

"Schindler's List" deals with subject matter that benefits from more detail and illustration of the subtleties involved in negotiating survival in a tyrranical political environment (the same role that the "tons of literature..." occupies). There's no such insight to be gained from footage of people caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. What could be less subtle than jets flying into buildings?! Is Newsweek really a good judge of poignancy, especially since they stand to gain indirectly from continued public interest in these grotesque displays of misery that do everything but address the underlying issues contributing to the WTC disaster? Much more than a car wreck, these underlying issues are exactly what movies like "Schindler's List" are about.
When I was a kid, we only had one Darth.
What does he do? Hold the lightsaber over his head so the bad guy can hit at it?
"Derp de derp."
Why? Because I'm punishing Mr. Lucas for Episode 1. I watched it on DVD recently and stopped it not just out of sheer boredom, but Jar Jar was getting way too much screen time.
I will see Episode 2. I basically have to as it will no doubt influence my industry. But Lucas isn't getting opening weekend ticket sales out of me.
I remember Jay Leno saying "Star Wars opening to a record setting 200 million dollars this weekend. They'd have made 400 million if they had brought dates!" heh. That opening figure meant so much. Well as punishment for E1, he's not getting it for E2. If E2 is good, then I'll see opening weekend of E3, but why do I think that's not gonna happen?
The shortest route to their brains is through their wallet. Sounds disgusting if you think about it...
"Derp de derp."
Though I forget by whom, since I didn't pay attention to the advertisement.
The commercials for the special said at the end "With limited commercial interruption by 'so-and-so'", so There WILL be commercials.

Haha, that's funny! In case you forgot, that's exactly what the second episode is all about, our hero's continuing path to the dark side. Stop your lame whining already, you'll watch the movie a dozen times no matter what it's about or who's in it.
There aint much point in guessing how good or bad the film is going to be.. though I am really hoping that its gonna be good - I need SOME excuse to finally go and see a Star Wars movie on the big screen (too young to see the originals first time around, and rather lamely watched Phantom Menace as a 'look what I taped in the cinema' video CD).
:)
Certainly seems a little darker than Phantom - and the new Boba Fett style character looks pretty cool.
And of course, Natalie Portman.. any excuse
"Hey! Unless this is a nude love-in, get the hell off my property!!"
The trailer comes on at 9:55PM Eastern, so you won't be missing any of the WTC special.
The difference:
Jar Jar is a failed attempt at Buster Keaton-style slapsitck. Unfortunately, Lucas captured none of the sophistication or clever gags of Keaton. All the cutesy characters in episodes 4-6 were realistically intelligent and reacted believably to their situations. Jar Jar is something you'd expect to see in a saturday morning cartoon created by a dodgy old professor who's real passion is Proust, but was told to make a funny children's show.
I don't know how you could stand a movie that actually expected you to take it seriously when people were fighting with light sabres and jumping in and out of hyperspace.
You suspend your disbelief. I have no problem believing in (for 2 hours, at least) the Force, light sabres, and Jedi Knights; until some zany loon CGI character comes in and makes me remember it's just a movie.
Lucas is a master of drama and action. I give it up for him for trying, but I hope he realises that any comedy (even if it's good) in the Star Wars series really doesn't belong. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be treating episodes 1-3 the same way I do The Godfather III: pretending they don't exist.

Yep, I hear the price of millet has gone up $2 per ton in Europe. Whooopee.
> As for Natalie, I'm still wondering what happened to her after The Professional.
;-)
;-)
Yeah, she was quite fuckable in *The Professional*, wasn't she? Especially in the *Leon* extended cut. Mmmm, jailbait. Tastes like chicken...
But seriously, I didn't think her acting was that bad in TPM--it's just that the script called for a wooned "regal" performance. I can just imagine Lucas directing her into mediocrity: "No, Natalie, say it with less feeling this time. You're a Queen who doesn't know the common people yet, which is why you pretend to be one of them to learn. But right now you're aloof, so act like you're Queen Victoria trying to hold it in after being given a laxative."
In contrast most of her other recent performances have been great, like in *Where the Heart Is*. Oh, and in those topless pictures the paparazzi got of her at the beach. Her performance in those was good, too.

I am still trying to get a refund.
I'm afraid that seeing the Ep1 trailer so many times ruined my enjoyment of the movie before I even got to the theater. Trailers do reveal a lot of plot that some people want to be surprised with - including me. I mean, the Ep1 trailer basically reveals that Qui-Gon dies! What else could Obi-Wan be screeching "Noooooooo!" about? We know Anakin doesn't get turned to the dark side yet, we know Jar Jar doesn't die, so of course he has to be bitching about Qui Gon dying.
So, I'm going to make an effort not to see the Ep2 trailer AT ALL. I know it'll be hard.. I don't know what I'll do when I go to movies. I don't watch live TV anyway, so I'll tivo through any tv commercials. Well it'll be tough. I'll see if I can just MINIMIZE exposure to the trailer.
While that would maybe be a nice gesture, everyone knows that the media is going to go apeshit on 9/11/2002. It's going to be an all day event, a recap of everything thats happened since the attacks. It's going to totally suck ass too. As if everyone hasn't heard enough of it already. But you just know it's going to happen. That's all the networks are going to talk about that day.
:P
Honestly, I would be curious to watch the CBS documentary, but I have to work at 5 in the morning and 9 is way past my bedtime

if it's any indication of the quality of AOTC, i weep for the state of the the star wars franchise.
I'll be in line for this one, It looks a million times better than TPM
See subject. Some good light saber action here and there, but the story just doesn't do for me at 31 what ANH did for me at 7.
Intelligent Life on Earth
And it looks like a cartoon.
Lucas should go back to model sets and model ships.
The war storyline might be ok. The first trilogy worked because there were characters that you cared about, there's nothing like that here.
More cartoon CGI.
More six-cuts-a-second editing.
More CRAPPY FUCKING EWAN MCGREGOR.
More stupid Vader panting.
SUCK. Anyone that gives Lucas a dime to see this thing is _stupid._
Why is it that the better his special effects get, the worse the acting and plot become? The total lack of Jar Jar isn't really enough-- it looked like scenes from a cut rate sci-fi movie and not something that should be part of Star Wars.
-m
Who cares if he's going to kill off Jar-Jar (so quoth AICN)? Obi-Wan's now the comic relief? "Blast... I hate flying." However, this is just fan-boy quibbiling, it looks fantastic.
Alright. Of course the trailer had the standard, expected CG. Of course. And of course it had the again expected Yoda hovering making semi-cryptic statements.
But truthfully, I question this. There were what, five direct attempts at lame humor just to get the viewer to think of this as a comedy? I'll pay my money to see an epic drama of galactic proportions (half-pun). I doubt I'll be paying it to see this stretched, poor attempt at bad humor through the abuse of characters we've all grown to love (insert requisite jarjar statement).
... that's all i wrote...
Well I just saw the trailer, and I must say I can't wait for the real thing. I expect that this movie will have even more stunning visuals than Episode I. Also, primarily because this episode seems to be primarily at war, it will have a feel much more like the original 3 Episodes.
Oh well, can't win them all.
Lot's of catch-phrases and cartoonish special effects. 'Begun has the clone war'
Even Yoda is lame.
int func(int a);

My initial reaction is that the trailer is very
disjointed... there are bits and pieces of
scenes, but everything happens to quickly to make
any sense of it... visual information overload.
Basically it looks like guy at ILM had a bad acid trip... everything is moving like some kind of
hallucination or kaleidescope. There's nothing
to focus on, just a bunch of blurry shapes flying and running.
but i'm still gonna see the movie as soon as it opens.

There was certainly a lot of stuff going on in it... and the movie looks like it will be interesting enough to get my $5. (matinee showing)
But _man_, the clips in the trailer just seemed to be thrown together without any real order behind them. The previous trailer was a lot better in terms of editing.

One thing that has become apparent: no one is impressed by anything any more.
It takes literally a few minutes after the release of ANYTHING for people to be wheezing "ehhh, it sucked and by the way everything sux"
I'm not defending the Star Wars trailer (because I haven't seen it), this is just a general observation. What does it take for people to like something? I think "stunning visuals" are becoming a commodity, or at least, one would think they were by the collective yawn everything is received with any more.
Maybe it's just because we know it is fake and further, we know how it was faked. Like a magician who's tricks are all explained ahead of time. I don't know. I'm just wondering if perhaps "the audience is no longer listening."
Just a thought.
None of the prequels and sequels compare to Star Wars IV, the original Star Wars. How many of you acne-pimpled geeks ... er ... programmers without any financial/business sense are old enough
to remember Star Wars IV? It debuted in 1977 and
was showing in American theaters for more than
a year. Yes. A full year. How many other movies
can compare to that record?
The only place where Stars Wars had some trouble was in South Korea. Koreans apparently hate American films because when Star Wars was shown there, some Koreans released snakes into the theater.
It is at http://starwars.apple.com/ep2/clone_war/clonewar_m d.html. The large version requires QT pro.
Seriously though I don't understand what you are all whining about. First of all you have to remember that the episode 4 has been around and worshiped for more than 20 years, and to expect a brand new movie to live up to that is rediculous. Personaly, I'll see the movie even if it's said to be terrible. Call me crazy, but most of the movies that have come out in the last few years are complete trash. You want a plot summary of most movies? Guy/Girl exists. Guy/Girl has sex on the first date with Guy/Girl he/she doesn't know. More stupid pathetic plot with more holes in it than swiss cheese. Happy ending. If this movie is half coherent, it will already be better than many movies lately.
Also, is it really fair to judge a movie by a trailer? Lately I've been watching alot of older movies on DVD, and they usually include the trailer. I can't help but say that while many of the movies are great, I'm not so sure I would have gone to see them based on the trailer. I think we have all had an expirence like this. Then of course we've all had dozens of expirences that are just the opposite: great trailer, worst movie ever.
Have we nothing somewhat more important, but still totally pointless, to debate? Let's debate something like forcing all one-legged-weasles-born-on-the-right-side-of-a-wat ermellon to have the left side of their head shaved for posterity. That's about pointless and weird enough for Slashdot.
Comment forecast: Bits of genius surrounded by a sea of mediocrity.
Is it just me, or does anyone else think that that super-reflective space craft doesn't belong? Sorry I don't know what the ship is called... But it's just.. it's just so out of place among all those textured things, then a flying mirror. looks WAAY too CG.

So I wonder if the obligatory reference to 1138 will appear in the trailer, and if so who will be the first to spot it?

Not to seem like I'm out of the loop, but was that HoloNetNews.com URL at the end of the trailer something known, or is it new?
:)
Nice idea, but you'd think they coulda made more content what with $2B in the Lucasfilm coffers...

Since when do I have to pay for Quicktime Pro to watch the hi-res trailers?
God save us all from Anakin/Amidala leaning off the edge of the death star. "I'm king of the world! YIPEEE!!!"
Uh, dude, the Death Star doesn't have an edge... it's a globe!!!

It looks like Sony Pictures and 20th Century Fox are going to duke it out for summer box office king.
Now, most people are going to see both at least once. The real money is going to be in repeat viewings and wide audience appeal.
Fortunately, Episode 2's new trailer at least gives us hope that it will be somewhat exciting. The previous 2 trailers and teaser were very much yawners. Frankly, if the final trailer was a bomb (which in my opinion it wasn't), Spider-man would rule. But, now, I'm not so sure Spidey will beat the Star Wars juggernaut.
Episode 2 will get the repeat viewing audience (if it doesn't suck, it's an almost shoe-in for repeats). And, wide audience appeal, I think that's a toss up.
In my opinion, it's going to be a close one...
Sure, Windows PCs dominate the market. But so do cheap toupees.
Looked in the mirror I did! Damn good I think I look!
Don't make me have to open up a can of Jedi whoopass on you!
"Straight...to...video"
Pros:
1. It's colorful
2. Lots of shit blows up
3. New lightsaber colors
Cons:
EVERYTHING else. And I mean *everything*
Conclusion:
I *damned* sure won't be camping out at the theatre this time around.
If I see it at all.
Only here can you open up a page with advertisements and click a button to remove them only to end up reading an advertisement for an advertisement for a movie that will be sure to have more product endorsemets than Michael Jordan!

Where's the button?!?!
Who modded the above up informative? Can we please add "SPOILER" in title or mod it down again. I didn't want to know already that "Amidala cuts out and leaves with Anakin", even if you though it was obvious.

I've been hearing people complaining about Episode I ever since it came out. That seems to be the official policy around here judging by the commentary from the editor.
But I liked Episode I. Most of my coworkers and classmates did, too. While finishing my senior design project in spring of 2000, two of us on the group wanted to listen to the TPM soundtrack -- over and over and over again. I still listen to it all the time at work. (Got the ultimate edition!)
I thought Ep. I was spectacularly exciting. In fact, the only thing I didn't really like was the podraces. :) My comment to people who hadn't seen it the next day at work was "The lightsaber battles alone were worth paying $50 to see." I still stand by that statement; I loved it! And I think III is going to be one of the best stories ever told. Maybe it will take everyone (but me) by surprise.
Actually I think II is going to take a lot of people by surprise. Sure, I'm going to be there opening night. Not because I'll watch anything Lucas puts out, but because I've liked everything Lucas has put out. If I'm the only one who likes it, it just makes it feel like Lucas is putting out a custom movie for me and my friends.
I find it hard to think that half of Slashdot would show up for Star Wars: the return of the 17th century parlor comedy when nearly all of slashdot seems to agree with you.
To change the subject, has every heard about Virtual Episodes VII, VIII, and IX?
Secession is the right of all sentient beings.
i hate him but he is still in Episode II i have seen him.
I got a chance to see this trailer last tuesday at showest on one of the new DLP projectors. And I must say the presentation of the two together was incredible. I also got to see a lot of footage (basically they were just showing off the digital projector and digital camera combo) The picture was amazing I would have to say that even if the plot of ep2 isnt great it will look increadible.

Just how far will they go? I mean really, ad to hype other ads. What's next? pre-'feminie freshness' ads to prepare us for the real ones?
Next you will see the pre-pre-pre-ad for the pre-pre-pre-trailer of Star Wars 3
