There is a diffrence between Monolithic and bloated. M$ puts everything in the windows kernel, including the GUI. I fear the day when someone tries to put X in the Linux kernel. <shudder>
[W]hat would happen to this machine in U.S.?
Judging from the music industy's track record, I think it is more likely that they will have it burned at the stake...
On second thought, that might be a good thing. Because then the EPA would bust them. Do know how many toxic fumes come off burning plastic?

Better yet, just unplug the power. Not only will that prevent any spyware on the market, it also makes your computer really secure.;-)
Also what is the difference between the GPL
and the GNU license and why do we see them written as GPL\GNU?
The last time I looked they are diffrent names
for the same license. The nomenclature goes
something like this: GPL stands for Gnu Public License. This and the lesser or LGPL at the
licenses of choice for GNU projects.
I can't figure for the life of me why they don't have an optical input on the thing.
It's a conspiracy. You see that would make it to easy for someone to bypass copy protection schemes. You just stream the output into the recorder, and tada, prefect copy. I think that would make it illeagal under the DMCA.
I don't know about you, but if I'm going to trust my life to some software I would at least like the option of looking at the source code. So, it seems like they might be better off with an open program like gpg. I now I don't want to die because of a bug in a program that could have been fixed if the source was open.
maybe someone will figure out how to uninstall the BSOD program
YOU CAN'T DO THAT, it would crash the system!

No, the 0 in 0.x is the major version number. A zero in the major version means that they project is still beta, most of the time at least.

Personaly I'm fond of goto@hell.com
Call me masochistic, but I prefer IP's. Of course, on one on 64.28.67.150 will agree with me ;-)
The /. effect is the main reason I try to stay off the bleeding edge ;-)
