maybe we could judge a movie on how good it is rather than how many people go see it... "only to two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and i am not sure about the former"

  2. My 2 cents on Jordan Hubbard moves to new OpenDarwin.org · · Score: 0

I understand OS X to be nice, but it is not for x86. Apple has a complete monoply over its technology and should have a right to do so. I just think that in order for any serious business they will need to open up shop to more than their OS. They are lagging behind in processor and innovations design with it becoming ever more evident that their success is in software, contrary to the past. With the recent acquisition of Shake, they proceed into serious video composition. But until it becomes feasible to buy a system based on "gigaflops" instead of raw power, I don't see it a good idea to invest in one. I cannot build my own G4, nor can I upgrade one if i choose to buy one. On the talk of the DMCA and encryption bill (SSCSTASSCCCS?), Apple can have the same critques. In opposite to x86, it has good software and so-so hardware.

I gotta agree with the post on this one, if you knew what you were talking about then you would know the *CLIENT* has not been released for linux until now. Closed-alpha versions may have existed but this is the first chance for anyone to actually try it. Thanks, stfd /stfu...

  8. WTF on Connecticut To Store Biometric Information · · Score: 0

Honestly, I don't see why this crowd will have a problem with this. It's like, "why use CDs? cassettes are so much clearer!" My primary enjoyment out of this will be the fact that with a universal database and "powerful" applications means a forced upgrade of the systems at the DMV which is long overdue. I wouldn't mind being able to renew my license online or atleast cut down the wait. As far as the hate on the aspect of a MS Sql database or VB Application... I know Microsoft catches a lot of flaming, as maybe they should for some, but as far as the Server Products (Minus .NET Server) go, the products are pretty solid for the ease of administration, etc. Yes, they can be compromised but so can banks, planes, even your fucking heart! Nothing is perfect in this world. I'm sure if Microsoft still was developing on Windows 95 with adding occasional hardware updates it would be much more stable. Which is what is going on with 2k (until now). Microsoft has been in a rut lately, I feel that there is a chance if Longhorn has the databased filesystem then it could turn out to be pretty solid as long as there is an "expert" version (2k vs. 98). Not sure if all this was neccesarily due HERE but it was due, its debateable as to the *Nix vs. Windows situation. But for those nixers out there: install Windows 2000 (don't say you are broke, you know you don't need money), login in under a guest account (don't want a rooted box now do we? *neurotic* ), and open up your terminal instead of using the Explorer.

actually its the hot air in abundance in a frion cooled system... if you've ever noticed that the refrigerator is always running, it does seem to have enough of a task to keep food cool, let alone hardware that would nuke itself if it had the choice.. first step would be to build non-suicidal processors
