Why make up “theoretical”-based definitions? And why the pointless dichotomies?
If it does fusion (no matter the size), it’s at least a brown dwarf, but a better name (star-like) would make more sense. The more it shines, the more of a star it is. Else if it orbits something it’s a planet. (That’s what the word means, after all.) If it doesn’t, it’s something that we don’t have a name for yet, but that we may also call a planet nowadays. No that does not mean that tiny star can rotate around a huge planet, since by definition there is no such thing.
I see no point though, in arbitrary separations like “planet” “planetoid” “dwarf planet”, “asteroid”, etc. I’d only say that we have another gradient between the biggest and roundest planet possible, and the most non-uniform rock flying around. And between that rock, and a single molecule of matter. Also maybe a definition relative to the observer, about it being something that you could stand and walk around on without flying away.
Uuum because Windows Update is software that has to have full control over the system to do its job of updating core system files. And because Firefox, being a normal user program and maybe not even running, can’t override a program with full access and rights to everything.
Remember that all those so-called rules are nothing more than social conditioning. You can all change them completely for you, in the blink of an eye. Because you decide to do so.
So it’s rather bad to spread them, as if it were some law of nature. Especially because often it’s not exactly you profiting from those “rules”.
It has been around for about 10 years in Japan. But Apple is the new Microsoft. It follows the old Microsoft mantra, that you have to act like you just invented it and it’s the greatest thing ever, and in a deprived market (Appls’s) or a market full of idiots (Microsoft’s) people will believe it.
that they don't want to be seen as fat, unshaven or unclean
LOL. But if they aren’t any of those the can’t possibly seen that way and more than when someone meets them in person. So if they are any of those, then how about losing some weight, shower and shave? Just an idea...you know?
Moderation abuse much? This isn’t offtopic! NIF was on-topic. I mentioned a well-known fact. So fix your fuckin’ mind you ignorant American fuckhead! Instead of doing what your reality is founded upon: Repressing th eactual reality.
The sun does not have to shine 24 hours a day. The solution is piss-easy: Double the size of your solar power plant, and use the excess energy to pump water upwards into a reservoir. Then at night let it flow downwards again. There. Done.:)
The combination of solar thermal power plants and those reservoirs is already in construction in all of Europe. I think it’s unbeatable in that the energy source is endless (about 5 billion years), and the whole thing can be built solely out of the most abundant materials on earth (iron, aluminium, glass,... that’s nearly it.) It’s cheap too. And can be placed as places nobody (not even animals and plants) want to live anyway.
And you are the FUCKING DICKHEAD that stops ALL PROGRESS by SCREAMING at every possible innovator that $authority MUST have already thought of it.
it makes me want to kill myself over and over. It really does.
Well then, how about you do exactly that. We need the space and food for someone better.
— Somoeone who actually invented stuff, because he believed in himself even when surrounded by idiots like you, and even without having (had the need to have) studied at an university.
You are more right than you think! Remember that this so-called “crisis” is a lack of money. But money does not dissolve into thin air. No. We lack money because someone massively profits. And do you really think that one will give that away without a fight?
Compared to what? The LHC cost around 9 billion and isn't expected to have any real tangible benefit to anyone other than the knowledge.
That’s like saying to Einstein that his work isn’t expected to have any real tangible benefit. Or to Heisenberg. Yeah. Right. If you don’t think further than your nose goes. You... we... should know better by now.
We already have a very impressive fusion reactor. It has a size of 1,392,000 km and is planned to run another five billion years. I think we should use that, and indeed I think we will, as soon as oil runs out. It will be hard to even remotely use that thing up.
ICQ? Are you kidding? ICQ is still dominant around here. And with good reason. We’re neither retarded not spineless enough to become infected with the horrible abomination of a piece of Clippy shit that MSN/WLM is.
And yes, people still love keyboard cat. As there are people coming to the age of being able to not it for the first time every second. Go figure...
Es ist us, ze Germans! It’s unsere WUNDABAR revenge, for die Deppenleerzeichen! Zey spread like wir did back zen! Now we are kämpfen back like you did! VERBOTEN! JAHAHA!
"After all, he points out, '... another service may elbow Twitter aside next year, and "tweet" may fade into oblivion.' Of course, it is also possible that social media sites will elbow paleolithic media into oblivion, and Mr. Corbett will no longer have to worry about word use."
That’s a false dichotomy. I’m very sure that both will happen. While working hard (and pointlessly) to replace the other.;)
Because not only statistics prove that the amount of facts on Fox News is negligible and every “story” from them is by definition designed for deliberate evil manipulation of the people, but also because they even admitted it themselves in front of a court.
It’s like a boy who cries wolf 99.9999% of the time, and you want us to trust him on the one time he is right. Well, you know how the story ends...
Uuum, it’s called Matroska (MKV), it’s already the dominant codec for HD videos in P2P file sharing, because of its feature-richness and because it’s basically binary XML, which is a neat thing. It’s made to be streamable, even with all the features you could ever imagine. Including 3D, as many streams of anything (video, audio, subtitles, etc) as you want, chapters, metadata, and arbitrary custom extended tags. So even if one client can’t use a extension, it will play.
Google already likes it so much that they support a subset of it in Chrome. (Understandable, considering the number of features.)
You don’t get it. It still works the other way around. Most people will have one more reason to stop using Linux when they want to use 64bit. If you converted some girl or your mother to Linux, and because you had a 64 bit CPU chose 64 bit Linux, prepare for her to complain until Flash works again.
Flash games are important to users. Unless they work you can completely forget converting someone to (64 bit) Linux for now.
What is it with you and the perverse fixation on money. There are better goals out there.
If you have lots of children, and you die, you will survive trough them. If you have great ideas and people follow your mindset, you will survive trough them.
If you have lots of money, and you die, some brat or dick will get your money and do whatever he likes. Especially what you did not want him to do when you were alive. And shortly thereafter nobody will even remember you existed.

So typical!
WTH? People with mod points who believe that dinosaur newnpapers have even a remote chance of surviving? On my Slashdot?? Unpossible! ;)
NYT is already dead. They just don’t know it yet. But you should know better.
Uum, so I imitate parent poster and while he gets +5 Funny, I get -1 Troll? Double standard much?
And he’s not even right. While I am. Or is that your criteria: “I can’t stand facts, so I’ll repress them by modding them down.” ;)
Typical crab mentality.
...it’s just that you’re so ugly that you’re ashamed. ;)
I mean who wants to look at that b-e-a-utiful teethwork? Or the wonderful curvature of those two-ton cheeks?
Now of course you can also attack my country, but then I’d have to show you this: http://navid.radiantempire.com/pix/Lustiges/deutschland_fick_ja.jpg :D

It has nothing to do with power generation, and will by its very design never be usable for it.
It’s not its point.
