HP Backs Off DMCA Threat

Here's the problem. HP cried DMCA. Where the hell are the Feds? Once you cry DMCA you can't take it back. The probable cause is there. Where's the FBI busting these guys? Because HP changed their mind? What about Adobe? Where is the consistency? We need a trial, NOW.
Why is it always "a week", or "a month".
Why not just boycott the bastards for good?
Jeez, does this mean after the boycott week we can run back to the record store with a wad of cash and buy up all those CDs we went without for a week?
Do you really think "a week" boycott will matter one bit to these nazis? No, the only thing which will work is a boycott of these clowns and their "products" for the forseeable future.
"Granted other sites do get filtered as well, but the concept isn't bad, the technology just needs a little more time to mature."
But how would you know unless you looked at what they were censoring? But that's illegal under DMCA.
The true purpose of the DMCA is so the government and corporations can hide stuff from the public.
This is so much BS. These companies put content on the Internet, and then expect people to not to link to it? WTF?
If they don't want deep linking to work, then they should use a webserver to redirect to the home page if they havent been there yet in that session. It's Real Easy To Do. Maybe they should put a password on their site to restrict access.
Just goes to show to what extreme the corporations will go as they try to own the Internet.
"This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future."
Adolph Hitler, 1935
Indeed!!!
``There is no reason for anyone in this country, for anyone except a police officer or a military person, to buy, to own, to have, to use, a handgun. The only way to control handgun use in this country is to prohibit the guns. And the only way to do that is to change the constitution.''
-NBC News president, Michael Gartner, USA Today, 1992-Jan-16
"When we got organized as a country and we wrote a fairly radical Constitution with a radical Bill of Rights, giving a radical amount of individual freedom to Americans...... And so a lot of people say there's too much personal freedom. When personal freedom's being abused, you have to move to limit it. That's what we did in the announcement I made last weekend on the public housing projects, about how we're going to have weapon sweeps and more things like that to try to make people safer in their communities."
Of course, a good solid quote from Der Fuhrer is always in order at times like these:
"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the underdog is a sine qua non ["something essential" lit. "without which not"] for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or police."
--Adolph Hitler, Edict of March 18, 1938
"All military type firearms are to be handed in immediately...The SS, SA and Stahlhelm give every respectable German man the opportunity of campaigning with them. Therefore anyone who does not belong to one of the above named organizations and who unjustifiably nevertheless keeps his weapon... must be regarded as an enemy of the national government."
-- SA Oberfuhrer of Bad Tolz, March, 1933.
"Those who sell their liberty for security are understandable, if pitiable, creatures.
"Those who sell the liberty of others for wealth, power, or even a moment's respite deserve only the end of a rope."
-Patrick Henry
"Show me that age and country where the rights and liberties of the people were placed on the sole chance of their rulers being good men, without a consequent loss of liberty! I say that the loss of that dearest privilege has ever followed, with absolute certainty, every such mad attempt."
-Patrick Henry, June 5, 1788
"Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA - ordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the State."
-- Heinrich Himmler
It's because people who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Encrypt a document which explains how to decode DVDs. Encrypt the DeCSS code and pass it around :)

If I had mod points I give you some.

How about Frank Zappa'a "Bee-bop Tango"?
Actually you are wrong, the DMCA *IS* feces.
Looks like we are creating a dictatorship of scope and power never dreamed of, even by Adolph Hitler himself who would be proud! -Jeho
We are creating a corporate dictatorship the likes of which Adolph Hitler himself would have been proud of!
