Balance notebook with AMD XP-M 1600, 40GB HDD, DVD Rom sounds much better. Comes with windows. If the manufacturer removes it i am sure he can shave $25 off the price!!!

Okay first off iwan't to say i am a huge IBM fan. Still love my 4 pound PIII 500 super upgraded IBM Think 570e!!! 3 years old and still looks and feels like new.
That said how much is quality worth. I would pay $100-200 more for the IBM quality versus the HP or Dell quality, but nothing more. Also seeing the recent trend of PC's more than doubling in power every year and prices of the newest 5" laptops from Dell/HP @ less than 1000 IMO i would not pay more than $100 today for the same feature set but IBM Quality!!!Once PC's drop to $750, then not more than $75, etc, etc, etc
I wonder why they did not choose to use Pentium-M or XP-M. Will bring down the heat significantly enough to not require too much custom heat dissipation solutions. Mobile chips are not that much more expensive than Pentium 4 anymore!!!
Another issue to consider is that this is a relatively newer surgery. What...like 20 yrs or so. who knows one of the by-products is after 30 years u go totally blind or something...........damn the country will be full of blind ppl.......:)
