If I made a game about cutting people's heads off and using them as hood ornaments as you drive around town, and them some kid played my game and decided to do the same thing in life, it's a pretty safe bet he already had something wrong with him before he played my game.
It's also a pretty safe bet that if he hadn't used the idea from my game, he would have eventually found another way to carry out the plans of the voices in his head...
I would say something, but I'm afraid I would get sued...
Seriously, it sounds to me like this company was just down on it's profits and needed a little extra cash. Knowing that they couldn't actually sell thier product, decided to take it away from the average Joe.
I don't know anything about the product, or thier business. The fact that they felt the need to do this though gives me the idea that either thier product sucks, or they don't know how to run a business. In either case it would make the poor posters comments true, and thus not defamatory. He's just telling the truth, which you can't be sued for.
For those that might read this and get the idea to sue me, remember this is just my opinion, the key word there. On that note, it makes this lawsuit even more ridiculous, if the poster had tried to pass this off as actual news, or as a credible source of information about the company, then maybe the suit could stand. I thought everyone new that forums were for opinion only...
While the actual use of spam may not be innovative, this ploy by campaign managers was. The candidate has managed to piss off every geek and nerd for miles, but has picked up a ton of free publicity for his campaign.
Some folks just run out and vote for who's fresh in thier minds. Being splashed all over the news is a cheap and easy way to implant this candidate in all the mindless masses that follow this particular voting method...
Innovative, yes... Ethical, probably not

Well if this was a tactic of the opposing campaign, they were probably pretty stupid, considering all the free press this matter is getting now...
