traffic camera can do face recognition in cars driving by at 25 MPH...
Well around my area, they do have cameras that are high enough quality and quick enough for taking pictures of license plates and faces in the car for running red lights, so it wouldn't be too hard to use that input for some of the new face recognition systems (like the one that uses a 3d face 'fingerprint')
You didnt even hit 1GB yet, 1911.8Mb (bits), comes out to about 238MB (bytes), cornell is proposing a 2 gig BYTE limit. You only hit about 1/8th of that
A group called the 'Institute for Applied Autonomy' didn't like all the cameras in NYC, so they went around marking locations, and they have an online service called 'iSee'
What it does is allow you to click on a start point and a destination, and it will draw you a route that follows the least amount of cameras in new york city. It would be very useful if someone did the same for London
did anyone really stop to question before complaining about how this is a bad idea (2gig cap)? How often do you download 2gigs of mp3s a month, or atleast share them. And even if you are some big server sharing, you can always just reduce the load a bit, programs like bearshare (etc) have trasfer capping built in. Not like anyones goinna miss that much mp3 traffic anyways
echo audio sells digital multitrack recording products. one product of theirs that my friend bought on ebay for only like $50 (retails for only a few hundred, i don't remember) is the Layla 20bit, which is a combination rackmountable piece of hardware for all the inputs, and a pci card for your computer connecting to the rackmount...they include software for it, and my over all opinion is its very good. I believe its a 4 track, but again, i could be wrong. Ebay search for Echo Layla, lowest price first
and supports NetBoot images greater than 2 GB in size
it makes you kind of wonder tho, who has netboot images that ARE greater than 2 GB? Could this just be another useless 'feature' or upgrade that doesnt do too much? (kinda like maximum current connections on BSD, close to a million really serves no purpose). And anyways, wouldn't anyone who would have that 2g image have to be on like one of the new fiber college backbones that can actually handle that, or are people generally content waiting a few hours to boot...
even when i was little i never wanted to be a rock star, there was something always seeming that much more special about being underground. yay for punk rock

just the website is on a different server (tho the original one exists)
I think we should try a different approach to punishing crackers. I propose that we put them infront of their own personal computer which was confiscated by the feds with a non-working keyboard and mouse, and run tail -f on a few of their personal, or valued files while they are slowly being deleted.
I can just imagine them crying as they watch their recently stolen visa credit card list disappear line-by-line, and then their pics of sarah michell gellar disappear scan-by-scan. Muahahahahaha
As for real hackers, i'd say nothing would be worse then putting them in a closed room except for a oneway mirror, and a few monitors displaying just screen captures from around the IT dept they are in, specfically one that gets hacked alot. I can also imagine them crying watching all the terrible wiring and horrible system administration.
Muhahahha (again)
So what do all you folks who still think BSD is alive say now?,
well, i'd have to say BSD is still alive now, maybe freebsd is in the past as you say, but don't forget freebsd != BSD, open/free/net/bsdi = BSD.
But here's also something to think about. Whats linux in right now, 2.4.20? something like that? they're already working on 3 anyways, so does it make them in the past if they were to release something like 2.4.21? "oh god! they're releasing more under that OLD branch!".
the only real thing i can think of at the moment, is work something to the effect of a democracy, and vote on everything, just have the majority win (as opposed to unanimous, otherwise nothing would get done), but before you vote on anything, throughly discuss it so everyone is on the same page for all sites of the vote.

hehe....oh, btw, tho it was funny, and i'm not trying to be insensitive, it was alot less than 5000 (thank god), more like 1000 last i heard, 5000 was cnn's 'watch us more' hype
While there is a english version of the site (http://www.newsbooster.com/?lan=en), it forces you to download from the danish page, which is exactly the same, except in danish, and has the url, but quite unobviously (just a red button labeled 'N' after alot of weird danish text. Huh, thats funny especially because the english-version page title says something about 'business intellegence' (thats a good idea, lets get more people by making dup pages, but only allowing you to download from the one that will be less viewed)
don't know, why don't you ask it? These lost sms messages have to go somewhere. I don't know my specfics of sms, but i'm guessing it takes a few packets to talk to the main (server?) etc. I know packets get lost, but a few in a row? with no resend either?
Its not a dupe. Compare the 2 articles. The earlier one this morning said that the FreeBSD developers said its compiled and should be available shortly and put up the release schedule, where as this new said its definitly available now, and even on mirrors, which normally take a while to get up to date. If anything, at the farthest, this is more like a partial dupe, but figuring CmdrTaco posted it, he most likely reads his news everymorning and noticed the previous one.
this is pretty cool figuring for the longest time, researchers have been trying to mimic intellegence (etc..) in computers, but now with this it might be possible to leave some of the complex thinking up to actual brain (chunks?), and adding whats needed on the electrical side

Correction, its the layla 24bit, and its a 8track (leave it to me to screw something that simple up)...here is the product page

due to the article being empty, im thinking this was more of a 4:20 (hint hint)
