Are you looking for examples where a fish turns into an elephant? Humans have not been around that long to witness it, but fossil remains do link dinasaurs with birds for example.
Dogs and wolves are not the same species, they are in the same family. The Canidae family includes dogs, wolves, foxes, coyotes, and jackals. Canis familiaris is the domestic dog,Canis lupus the grey wolf. Totally different species with similarites, scientifically linked through fossil remains. Thats evolution in action within a small time scale. I learned that at a Catholic schoool. If you want to see fish walking on land and evolving into a horse, your missing the whole point. Evolution is the gradual and continual change of a species DNA makeup through natural selection. New species are constantly being created and destroyed every day.
Speciation, or evolution of one species into another, is not observable and has never been found in the fossil record.
? Never been found in the fossil record? I recall possibly hundreds of articles involing this, and it is observable and reproducable in the lab with bacteria, and in the wild. (ever heard of a virus 'mutating'?) DNA? Try reading a science journal or just watching the discovery channel. There are literally thousands of examples right in front of your eyes know as people. Why aren't all poeple white or black? How did the different physical appearances of the different races humans come about? Why do people in warmer climates naturally have darker skin and hair? What about dogs? Fossil records show all dogs decended from the wolf....but, they all don't look like wolves. How is that possible if not for selective breeding, the same process that happens with evolution. What about gardeners who make new species of plants by crossbreeding?
I don't think its a lack of intelligence rather than having more important shit to do than mess with electronics. I bet you help doctors, lawyers (ok bad example), rocket scientists, teachers, etc. I'm sure they are intelligent, but just not knowledgeable of electronics
C.S. Lewis, the original author in case you didn't know, wrote a paper on how this story is not a retelling of the story of jesus, although it doesn't take a biblical scholar to see he tries to teach some of the same lessons. Forgiveness, empathy, trust, perserverence (probably spelled wrong), etc. Are these lessons bad somehow? I'm not religous at all but I could see how parents, both christian and not, would want their children to learn these lessons.
Its too bad C.S. Lewis himself wrote a paper on the fact the movie has nothing to do with jesus. I think the movie has some good lessons for kids though.
Actually, I was pointing out that noone seeems to be grasping the fact that ODF is an open standard, you don't need to license it. I've seen at least 10 posts where people mention licensing ODF.
Think about it. Every medium size to large office with PCs is going to need IT people. I'm surprised they can handle a whole state with just 2000 people. You got DMVs and all those systems, State Troopers with laptops, state tax people, heath care services, the Governor, Lieutenant Governor and all their people, Attorney General, the lottery people, weights and measures. I could go on. Think about all the services that the state provides. Its huge. Needless to say its a lot of computers, networks, and people who probably are not too good at using them. This day in age where the most savy people are not using Microsoft, its important everyone can exchange information.
The browser crashes when I go to a site? OMG! If its not arbitrary code execution, don't bother me. IE has had a similar exploit since it came out. Basically, it crashes randomly when visiting a website.
I don't think a hierarchy of anything should be patentable. I'm sure that monkeys have organzied banannas first by size, then by color. Organization of objects is a natural part of being intelligent. Its not really an invention to index data by more than 1 attribute, no matter what the data is. If this patent holds then you could technically patent anything that organizes X type of data first by one way, then by another. I guess someone could patent indexing general data by more than 1 way and start demanding licensing from Orcale and MS.
Theft *does* directly harm someone, in that deprives them of their property.
I think he meant harm as in like, physical harm. Personally, I consider getting the shit kicked out of me, killed, or mamed a bigger crime than if say, someone stole my ipod. All of the parents examples suggested physical harm.

Librarians!! A blight on our great nation, they provide books that could be used for evil against gods people, the republicans.
One small adjustment:
Score = (numCarChases + numExplosions + numTits^2) / (budget/1000000)
I think you underestimated the power of tits.
works every time!
Dear Sir, I million dollars has been deposited in your account. Kthnx

I have no idea what you just wrote. Is there a point somewhere in there?

Best rebuttel I've read in awhile. He probably has not clue what your talking about either.

Yeah, a lot of people are not grasping that.

I sense those in the state senate have shiny new Swiss bank accounts. Its funny how much Senators care when they are paid shills.
The study concluded that countries with high software piracy rates have more to gain economically by protecting intellectual property rights.

Why pay for the study? I could have told you this 5 years ago.

so then the authorities cannot properly communicate!

Why does anyone care if those little shits can't buy the game they want and have to ask Grandma to buy it instead?
You'll have to reboot anyway a couple hours later just because the machine is slowing down and having strange issues for no reason.
I've never not been able to play a DVD with linux.
