ruled... Gregory books taught me how to code, Unisys coding taught me how to build my OWN classes and my OWN types, and my OWN methods from a 48 bit word. Bit shifting to the max! That was the best and most fun I ever had programming.. Ah the days of my youth!
Hopefully this gets read. I am a geek. I am also an oustanding manager. I did it the same way I became a super geek. RTFM. There are many books on management. Pick up all the books you can, glean from those around you who are top managers, and you will too become a top manager. Same things applies to geekdom, RTFM.. Learn to hack people (figure out what makes them tick) and you can manager them. You may have to start out with a simple "hello world" but eventually you will be doing some hard core stuff. But start out small. Write down what your goals are for your team and yourself, and follow through.. Read, read, and then when you are done read more on management and people skills.
Why would you want any of this? Check out www.plaxo.com. It syncs, lets me check out my schedule on the web, great networking tool, and its free... FREE...
I am proud to be an american. I love Linux, and I love what America has brought to the world as far as technology. So be glad you don't live in the country where it "all started". If it gets as bad as most of the apocolyptic, thoughtless wieners on this site, then move. I read/. everyday, but sometimes I think people don't really think, they just post.
I fully agree. I wish I wouldn't have waisted time reading the article let alone writing this post. What a waiste! Give me 1500 smack-a-roos, and I can build you an mp3 player that does all that and more, and has a nice big screen monitor with a gui front end. Err.. a computer?

Scary to think that a kid did this. Just think what you could cook up with say, 300 million dollars and a couple experts?!!
