I'm in the UK, and I've had *no* trouble signing for myself on parental consent forms... Maybe it's the fact that compulsory education ends at 16 makes them see 18 year olds still in education as more responsible... Or maybe it's just my sixth form college.

An interesting concept. How would such a TV program/channel work? Maybe ideas as 'channels' and 'programmes' are meaningless in such a context... Maybe all we need is a forum, a place for people to put their programming shorts and share them with the world. A moderation/karma system, similar to that of slashdot would ensure submitters works were... duely recognised. :P

Answer: They won't. In the future programming won't be a job, it'll be a hobby. People will do some other job during the day and code in their spare time, like me. I, like most people (well, most people I know) started coding because I liked it, *I enjoy coding* thats why people go in to open source, because they like coding, not because they want to make millions. Therefore, eventually coding will cease to be a profession.

Alternativly, eventually all coders may become a massive, government-funded collective that siphons money off anywhere it can. You could call it 'The Guild of Programmers' - very cool.

I am a student so I get stuff like this. This was in a letter that we had a few weeks back. I am not sure whether it compulsory or not, I just know that if you try to hire a 15 and the guy in the shop doesnt think your 15 and you dont show him ID he is well within his rights to refuse to hire you the video. And thats as much as I know. It works in other proof-of-age places as well like bars, clubs, the cinema etc.

    I am informed on a need-to-know-basis

  7. UK ID Cards? on Hong Kong Gets Smart ID Cards · · Score: 1

The UK government are introducing student proof-of-age cards. This is one step away from a full-blown ID card. No doubt there will be counterfeits though :-). However this involves having your digital photograph taken and placed on a govenmet computer for ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever Amen (Well, until a gets hold of it). Also, the generation used to carrying proof of age cards will be less opposed to full-blown ID cards. I am fully opposed to this as I feel it gets rid of the citzens right to anonimity. Scones
