    Wow, chrisd..what a bold, principled stance you have taken. I'm sure there were boatloads of SCO employees just DYING to work for you and damage studios(whoops there's another plug!) that you'll sadly have to turn away.

    This grandstanding was probably easy to do, since you risked nothing, and it doesn't change anything because you weren't hiring anyways. You've succeeded in getting in a cheap plug for your company, and looking like a jackass that no reasonable person would want to work for.

    Don't you find it funny that a story called "grow up" could also be applied to you?

    I find it interesting that the few haters that leave the US for the paradise of Canada or France are such big mouths about it.

    It's like they have to make a scene and be a drama queen when they leave like we should actually care about them. The truth is nobody does.

    The handful of uppity whiners who leave will be more than made up by the immigrants who still
    come here to seek a better life and opportunities.

    It's also interesting how the bobos who leave are usually the well-off types, I wonder why the unwashed masses aren't following them out. Maybe it's because this time the common folk know better.

    That is an interesting, but irrelevant point. We do know directly elect the President, and never have. Look up something called the Electoral College, and then come back to discuss.

    BTW, how come you people don't scream that 1/2 of the voters didn't vote for Clinton either? He didn't get a majority of the votes.

    Jamie is trolling, it would appear. He asks a loaded question- "Is Deregulation The Reason", without any basis in fact. This is sort of asking like, "Red Hat Stock down, Is Microsoft the culprit?".

    How and why jamie decided deregulation could be the main reason for this for this blackout is a mystery. What facts have come out so far would lead him to this conclusion? None.

    Slashdot continually is reaching new depths in racing to the bototm with this story.

    The parent quoted Pres. Bush saying "for us", where I pointed out that he actually said "with us", a subtle but signficant difference. Your comment only reinforced what I said. I could have quoted yours too, but that would have been redundant. I'm sorry some people can't buy a clue.

    Next time, read more carefully before so boldly saying somebody is wrong, because it only made you look like a bigger idiot.

    Unfortunately, that's not what he said.

    He actually said, "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists." (one reference). By "with us", he was meaning with us against the fight against terrorism.

    So your subtle changing of his words completely distorts what he actually said and meant. That would qualify as FUD, or just outright fraud. I would have hoped readers and the moderators would have known better.

    Why is it that you guys are constantly tweaking and fiddling with the closed moderation system with the purpose of improving discussions, and yet you continue let the editors (namely michael) troll their way around it?

    Face it, some editors (michael) constantly put up wild, hysterical headlines with their own two cents in the story that concludes the world is coming the an end. Isn't that the definition of flamebait? You guys are essentially baiting users to read and respond, in a very Enquirer/NY Post way.

    Why is trolling from the editors less worse than trolling by the users?

    And it seems to have gotten worse lately. Just look at the Red Hat story today.

    In short, don't you think you guys should follow some set of standards or professionalism?

    i was saying its not a bank robbery in that this kid's money isn't being taken, or "grabbed" away.

    Read my lips, it was SETTLED. The kid and the RIAA came to this agreement.

    He agreed to pay this money. He may have settled because he didn't think he'd win and have to pay more, or maybe this money isn't a huge deal to him, who knows.

    once again, this story is interesting enough without the sensationalistic spin the slashdot editor felt it needed.

    The RIAA didn't "grab" anything, they settled with the student, which doesn't nearly sound as sinister as they made it out to be.

    And his life savings was only $12000, which isn't anything to sneeze at, but it's not like a bank robbery here.

    You want to debate this case fine, but please let go of this wild overreaching hyperbole.
