  1. Re:$450 from dell on Home-Built vs. Store-Bought PCs · · Score: 0

    Please, mod this guy down!
    Insightful? My ass....

As others have pointed out, this guy has NO IDEA WHATSOEVER. Please tell me where you can get a decent monitor for $100, or a LEGIT copy of XP/2000 for $70 REPEATABLY. Sure, I've bought copies of XP for 20 and 50, but they are one time only NFR copies. The $20 was only possible because I work at a state university with one of those MS agreements (aka, deal with the devil).

And as far as getting the case out of the box and setting up the standoffs in 3 minutes? What? It takes 3 minutes to wrestle the case from its plastic bag!

You would never demand that the coffee be free, but would you start paying a cover charge? Open mic nights are great, but no one ever pays money for the right to sit and listen to bad poetry. As the saying goes, just my $0.02USD

Oh wait, that was funny on Monday, not today. Sorry. I tried.

  4. DVR v. TiVo on ATi's All In Wonder Radeon 7500 · · Score: 1

There is an incredible difference between a device that will record video to a HDD and a TiVo (or any device in the same class as a TiVo). If the all in wonder has the same tv capture functionality of the Ati Tv-wonder, it's really quite pathetic. TiVo for all intents and purposes changes the way you watch television. Ati's video capture software can't even change to a channel that isn't below or above the one your currently watching.

What's the deal with that? I too have seen comet cursor install itself with no user intervention in IE. Freaking Bonzi Buddy did the same on some lyric site I ran across. I saw the permission box pop up on my screen and immediately disappear without a single click. How can it not be terribly illegal and punishable by death for these offenses?
