At the end of the day you have to show some sense. It is almost impossible for even the major tech companies to safeguard their own info. Why do you think they can safeguard yours? If there is something you are doing that you don't want people to know about the last place you need to put info about it is on the internet. Laws aside that is just plain stupid. If someone guarantees your privacy on the internet assume it is a lie and life will be better for you. Honestly if I was engaged in criminal activity I wouldn't even have a cell phone. It is nothing more than a tag along snitch.
The idea is that "the end justifies the means." If your intentions are good then you can do bad things. Is it okay to torture someone for information on where a terrorist suspect is hiding? Most would say no. How about if they know the location of a nuclear warhead hidden in Manhattan set to go off in 8 hours? Want to bet that the numbers for that wouldn't be drastically different? It all starts with good intentions.
The thing about these consumer level devices is they have a short life span. People with the original iPad are looking forward to the next one coming down the road. I have an i5 dual core laptop and I keep ogling the quad i7 models and counting the money in my piggy bank ( I have almost 700 dollars in change built up). There is always the next big thing. It is not that I need it, I just want it.
My wife is on an AT&T plan that I pay way too fucking much for. I had to as she uses a phone a lot and also needed a data plan for it so I got screwed there but no choice. For me, I got a straight talk phone from walmart that costs 30 bucks a month. It is a simple flip phone that lasts about 5 days on a charge. I don't need data on the go, just to be able to talk some. The phone fits in my pocket, I drop it about 3 times a day, step on it a couple of times a week and dropped it in the toilet twice in the last 8 months. When I finally manage to destroy it I'll just go pay 29.99 for another one just like it. I would like a smart phone but I don't like some phone company ramming 18 inches of dick in my anus 365 days a year. Mobile data plans are fucking ridiculous.
My wife loves here 13" macbook and her 4.3" android phone. I use a 5" android tablet for reading and light mobile computing and a 14" Dell i5 laptop for heavier mobile stuff and a mac mini with 24" monitor for home computing. It's nice to have different devices for different needs. Still and all, if I could have only one it'd be the mini. It's the one with the real horsepower, big keyboard and monitor and 8 TB's of storage space with the heavy duty applications for video work. I could kind of get by with the laptop but it would be a lot harder encoding video on linux than with the mac and the much better applications.
A lie doesn't care who tells it. I must say you tell it well but it's still a lie. The market is controlled by regulations put in place by the government that the corporations payed for. They bought both Democrats and Republicans to pass their laws they wanted and then bought and payed for the executive branch that enforces them. This is the two party shaft in action.
You fail to see that corporations use government regulations to control the market to their exclusive benefit and kill any competition. There is no free market capitalism and has not been for decades.
This is why Libertarians are hated so much by both sides. The corps run both the R's and D's and use social issues to divide the population into these two camps. Divide and conquer works today as it always has. Blacks against Whites, Gay against Straight, Religious versus Atheists, etc. You'll notice shit like the patriot act gets full bipartisan support though. When will people wake up? I think only when they get hungry. As long as the bread and circus acts keep going it will never change.
Hogwash. President Bush was part of the power elite. He is responsible for his actions as is President Obama. I can not say that the current administration is worse than the former although they seem to be making a special effort.
I'm not going to argue about the linux issue but what I don't get is why they can't simply reload the operating system? Is it that expensive to reinstall an OS that you've already paid for? I've installed windows and it's not that much harder than installing linux. I had to hunt down the drivers for the system on the manufacturer's website but that was about it and it rebooted several times then it was there. 130,000 euros for that?
Slavery has been shown over and over to be a poor economic system. Workers work better when well treated. Henry Ford paid more than any other business and it made him filthy rich. Slaves make poor workers and that includes wage slaves.
The question is how much is enough. From a lot of people on the left all I ever hear is more. I never get an answer. Is 50% enough I ask and always they evade and wont say. The answer is simple, they want it all. There is never enough of taking other people's money. This is the problem I see.
Both of those government shutdowns were about spending cuts as much as anything. The last time spending was cut it was by the Clinton administration and a Republican congress. I'm not wealthy by any means, I make just under 60K a year but I don't believe in taking 2 thirds of any mans income. It's immoral. I don't care if he makes a billion dollars it's wrong to take more than he gets to keep. The problem with our tax code now is that instead of just making an honest tax system it is so convoluted and twisted that it is impossible to tell for sure what anyone should pay. Thus we get the Romneys of the world hiding their money to try to preserve it. Instead we should just have a simple tax system where everyone pays a percentage on anything over a basic poverty level. Never gonna happen though. Instead we have a system designed so the only way to keep any money is to cheat.

Not of their phones. I'm unusual in that I insist on an SD card slot. The damn proprietary connector doesn't get any love from me either.

Only if you want to try to stay secure and bug free as possible. If not, don't bother with them.
I think after 3 years you are supposed to buy a new one. They are throw away items.

I don't believe anyone genuinely believes President Washington was perfect. It is just that the modern examples we have make him seem so.

Sorry, could not resist.

They must be really bored. My phone calls make watching grass grow exciting by comparison.
Eavesdropping? I guess so, people have been eavesdropping for a lot longer than that.

Gotta keep you priorities straight. Who cares about a few peasants?
I wonder where you were planning to move? Australia? China? Iran? England? Just wondering.
I think they want the same kind of government regulation that China has.
Maybe their car wont start.
I have to ask. What 100 year old regulations are you talking about?
