The only people who can sue them for anti-trust is the DOJ I believe. If so that ain't happening. Before the last anti-trust suit MS was stingy on political donations. They wised up when the DOJ went after them and now they donate tons of money to politicos, greasing many palms. I doubt there will be any anti-trust action. It's easy to follow the money.

The difference being that generally MS bought up rivals to kill their products rather than compete with them. This got superior products out of the way so crappy MS stuff could continue to stifle. Apple buys up new and innovative tech to promote and market it. Have a few billion laying around they can do that now.

How much you want to bet that Apple gets ALL the specs for that hardware? They don't get the bullshit that linux developers have to tolerate. They've got the money to spend and the hardware vendors kiss their ass and build it to their (Apple's) specs not the other way around. Sure they don't actually manufacture it but you can bet they ain't buying it off the shelf.

I think it's more a case of the manufacturers supporting windows than the other way around. Of course Linux doesn't get that level of support because of the lower user base. Apple solves the problem by making their own hardware.

I remember Dick "fuck you" Cheney and President Bush calling a guy a "real asshole" one time and it blew over in a few days. Then of course the incident where Cheney told the guy "fuck you" and his apolgy later was "I'm sorry you all heard that" and not "sorry I said it." I don't see where this will matter at all.

The only way he can gain trust of important world leaders is to give in to their demands. It's plain that ain't happening, Israelis are funny about wanting to survive and feeling that giving Hamas, Syria and Iran what they want would be counter productive to that goal. I think maybe they're too hard line about it but then I don't live there surrounded by people that thing the world would be a better place if all the Jews were dead. I think maybe under that situation I might become paranoid and hard to deal with too.

The President "proposes" health care plans and "talks" about the economy. The Congress however has the power of the purse. Yes congress can make treaties and declare war but the President then executes the war and the treaties alike. In fact, as Commander in Chief the President can carry on a war without Congressional approval. It may not be declared but he can blow hell out of someone while Congress is sleeping. The only real way for Congress to stop him is to either Impeach him or cut off funding until the military runs out of money and can no longer conduct operations. And there are lots of little nest eggs of Billions of dollars that are laying around for the President to tap into making it possible for him to carry on a war for some time. It may be political suicide but often if he can do it quickly and successfully with very little loss of life the American people will actually approve and Congress dare do nothing. Decisive Presidents earn respect. President Obama found this out when the raid into Pakistan to kill Bin Laden succeeded bring him praise even from some right wing pundits. A lot of people are still pissed about 9/11 and want somebody's ass for it. Right or wrong the Muslim extremists are viewed as responsible and generally loathed and Israel, in a enemy of my enemy kind of way is viewed mostly positively. While Europeans may see it differently they don't get to elect US politicians who have to answer to American voters.
