I don't know. I don't think what the judge did was discipline. On the other hand corporal punishment can be used for discipline. It has been for thousands of years and it was common when I was a child. Generally children behaved far, far, far, far, far better then. I received quite a few belt driven corrections but I deserved them and knew I did and that my parents loved and cared for and about me. The discipline was always consistent and fair. I never got a spanking after about 12 or so but then by then I was pretty well behaved knowing the consequences for misbehavior. I think just beating the hell out of your children in a rage is, at the very least, counter productive. On the other hand I see the majority of children today receive no spankings whatsoever and they are mostly sad examples of modern permissive culture.

There is plenty of land nearby above sea level. You can't build in a lake bed and not expect to get wet sooner or later. It's ridiculous for the US government to have to rebuild this place time after time after time after time....etc. Once should be enough to wake people up. If not, screw 'em. If you want to live in a hole take what comes with it. It's the same with people on offshore Islands. Every couple of decades a bad ass storm moves through and oops! Time for Big Stupid Uncle Sam to come to the rescue with tax dollars. If you want to live on the beach in Hurricane country you should expect to rebuild occasionally. It comes with the territory.

Truth. I don't mind helping out people who get hit by natural disasters....the first time. Look at New Orleans. Much of it is below sea level. From the top of the dike there on the Mississippi River I looked down at the river then turned and looked at the town, this in 1980, and wondered how long it would be before that water found it's way into New Orleans. I told my friends with me that it was only a matter of time. When you looked at that mighty river where the water level was obviously above the buildings on the other side of the dike you knew it had to happen. It's nutty. That was before I knew about the canals. The canals are really crazy. They are concrete walls that are in the middle of housing areas that have water between them. You can see houses right next to these walls and water almost even with the roofs on the other side! Like I said, I didn't have a problem with helping people get new houses after Katrina......somewhere else! Rebuilding in a lake bed with the ocean and river that close by is insane.

Yes I'm white, I have a 60 thousand dollar income which makes me middle class where I live, but I have been arrested, twice, and I've heard and seen a lot in my 52 years on this Earth. Even the two times I was arrested the police were polite if a bit cold but they were professional. All the cases I've seen where there was abuse started with resisting arrest. Guess what, it happens. It's not supposed to happen and they don't always discipline the officers although that happens too sometimes. When you resist arrest there are some who love to knuckle up and beat somebody down and yes they will indulge themselves. I've also seen cops help people out too. I've seen them try their best to get people to calm down so they don't have to get into such situations. Yeah, maybe I'm lucky. Or maybe it's that (nowadays) I obey the law.

Try this link here. Maybe it'll help you.

The majority of police officers are not thugs. What a fucked up thing to say. The majority of police are good and decent people. Now admittedly there are thugs in the Police forces just as they exist everywhere and sometimes even the decent cops snap and make mistakes but to make a statement like that is inexcusable.

Well actually Clinton did sign that budget eventually. And the next year it went much smoother. The one thing about Slick was that he was a smart politician. Once he saw the advantages to balancing the budget he quickly moved so that it became "His idea." Just like when he tried Health Care Reform. Unlike President Obama, once Clinton saw what a crazy powder keg that was going to be and how no one would be happy when it was over he quickly dropped that like a hot potato.

I always thought he was preachy and full of himself too much for me. Regardless though I agree with him, they both pretty much stink. It looks like Obama may get reelected though. The Republicans are trying to find the worst candidate possible to run against him. My theory is, the country is so fucked they don't really want the Executive office. You get a large powerful server running the State approved Big Brother OS, say "Windows People's Embraced Edition" or Win pee for short. The small shareholders actually had to hire a private detective to discover where the shareholder meetings were being held so that they could attend to give them hell about what morons they were. You gotta love it. They ran Jack Tramiel off which I kind of understood but then they brought in the clown show to make Jack seem like businessman of the Millenium.
