There's probably some of that too. I do know I've worked for a few arrogant assholes that after I proved myself to them they were great to work for. Not so much until I got to that point.

The only thing legit on there is number 4. Number 1 is wrong in that they are just as likely, not less to commit crimes and 3 is that they are "somewhat" subjectively prosecuted, not incredibly so. All crimes are subjectively prosecuted. 2 is just outright wrong. Sex crime by definition means you're a pervert.

  5. I don't usually like big monetary awards for distress but there are exceptions. Getting labeled a pedo is one of them. It can literally get you killed in some places. Houses have been known to catch on fire when someone labeled a pedo moves in a neighborhood.

  6. I've seen where a cop had to quit after a big lawsuit he caused. They didn't fire him, they just shit all over him for 8 months until he couldn't take it and quit. Then he couldn't get a job anywhere as a cop. I saw his stupid ass working in the lumber department at Home Depot and he didn't last long there.

I admit I have pirated software in the past. Generally though I do buy the stuff I use. I would download stuff then run it for a while until it reached the point it was in my goto toolkit. At that point it's kind of silly not to support the author. If I didn't find it useful I got rid of it and looked elsewhere. If you don't fund useful software it goes away. People don't like to work for free and I don't blame them. On the other hand I hated buying a product that ended up not being what I thought it was. I did that for quite a while back in the 80s.

Not everyone can go to college, some people have to go to work. When we see college graduates bitching because they have a college degree and can't find a job we find it strangely unimportant.

It smacks of "I busted my ass to get where I am, grow the fuck up and persevere." Some people have a reason to be arrogant. If you've spent your life in a struggle to succeed and beat the odds to get to the top then you get to be a little arrogant. I've worked for people like that and most of them are the kind that if you're busting your ass they respect you. If you whine they despise you.

Sure, try jumping out with a parachute at 30K feet from a jetliner running 550 knots. I did see one design for a commercial passenger jet with ejectable modules for all passengers. A ticket in something like that from NY to LA would run about 50 thousand dollars. Considering air travel is safer than any form of land travel on a passenger mile basis I guess they decided to forgo the expense.

I agree with you. The real point is that this is a waste of time and money. Not that I care, they can piss away every dime they have on lawyers but for every cluster like this they destroy, two more will pop up somewhere else. The fact is that as long as it's easier and better to watch pirated content that's what will happen. They can't win this war with lawyers.

Even Fidonet when I operated on Bulletin Boards in the days before widespread internet availability had some problems in this regard. Usenet and IRC fell to it and now the social media in this Era are being dragged under by it. Anonymity makes it impossible to control.
