My problem is this post. Chastising this guy for Buying a windows-only copy protected game instead of a linux native game is crap. Civ 3 is a great game with a strong following. If the developer doesn't want to make a linux port, it's their choice. Don't bitch at somebody for buying a game they want just 'cause it's windows-only. I don't what you're talking about with point 1. Almost all retail games are copy protected... there is NO changing this. Any commercial developer not using protection / activation is asking for losses.
Do you even need a mousepad with the new optical mice? I have one of the older, slower sampling intellimice with intelli-eye, and I never have a problem just using it on my desk. I hear that it depends on the coloring of the mousing surface (Small details for the eye to track), but I can put my mouse on a piece of white paper, and it still works. The benefit of a plain desk surface is that you never run off of the mouse pad.
Don't forget about the great non-animated shows FOX has cancelled: Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared. It's frustrating devoting time to these new shows and right when you REALLY start liking them, they disappear. Thanks FOX.
Just a Question: If our fair use is compromised with the new protection schemes, do you guys think the record companies will give out replacement CDs for the ones that get scratched, broken, etc.? We would have no way to back-up these cds ala fair use, so shouldn't the Record companies be liable for replacement? And when they don't, wouldn't they be vulnerable to lawsuits?
Just curious.
