First of all, that isn't what the post said at all.
But here's an interesting point. AIDS is quite rampant in Africa right now. When the USA puts medicine into Africa, it is used to slow or halt the spread of AIDS. except this is what really happens. The people take the medicine, but they don't really change anything. Unprotected sex keeps happening over there, and the drugs lose their potency. Pretty soon none of those AIDS drugs are going to do anything over there anymore. So, if the USA puts lots of really really CHEAP drugs over there, then even more people will use them and won't change their lifestyle, and now the whole world gets f*cked over by a new, resistant strain of AIDS. Now we make new drugs, to fight the resistant AIDS virus. More money that the pharmaceuticals are shelling out. They have to release them cheap again. Pretty soon all the pharmaceutical companies are outta business because they haven't made any money at all on their products. Yay. No more drugs for anyone. Everyone gets f*cked. How bout, instead of releasing cheap drugs, the people over in Africa (and other areas of the world, not like Africa is the only place where there's AIDS its just a good example) get some actual information? I think it would be a good idea if they got some fairly good education on HIV/AIDS virus, and what causes it. But when they hear propaganda about HIV not causing AIDS, etc. then nothing will really change over ther,e no matter how cheap the drugs are.
You think all those Afghanis we have in the detention camps bombed the World Trade Center? You think most of them even knew about it? If you lived in a country thats a hundred years, or maybe more like 300 years, behind America, would you even comprehend planes flying into skyscrapers? Those fighters were just defending their leaders... frankly i doubt that they knew anything about America that was the truth. Probably just got filled up with propaganda. Instead of torturing those people, shouldn't we be going after the serious offenders? well, we are, but you know what i mean. There's no reason to treat afghani fighters like shit... most of them didn't know what they were even upholding.
Hey dood. i heard about someone dressing up as osama on the news last year... aparrently a lot of peeps got really pissed off at him. I would mebbe leave that topic alone... peeps might want to just kill you for looking like him.
Lost my other post:( So i'm going to repost what i said.
At my school, school books are rented out to us each semester. We pay 30-50 $ for those books, then return them at the end of the year. First day of school, we write our names in the books. Then during the year we highlight crap, write notes, etc. At the end of the year, the book takes those books back, and we don't get our money back (they're rented). Then, next year/semester, the school sells those books back out to the new studends. OMFG! My school just brok the copyright law! THey sold something that was changed from its original form! And they didn't even tell anyone!
I don't see my school getting sued though. Point- reselling or even renting edited stuff thats copyrighted is NOT illegal.
And don't say anything like "those books are subsidized by the state," ours aren't. We have PREMIUM books.
Just FYI Arandir, very FEW people have actually been arguing that its good to download TTT from the internet. More popular have been posts about the DMCA, and how downloading music is ok. Really, DLing movies is the same as downloading music, but there's actually a real good way to preview a movie before ya buy... a movie theater. And since most of the people posting have indicated that if a way to preview music easily and affordably existed, that they would make use of those legal channels, then most people must agree with what i just said about TTT, right?:)
*i'm confusing myself very quickly*
Oooh. Gladius. Isn't that a sword? How does a sword relate to Copyright Infringement, Theft, the MPAA, the RIAA, or a lot of other things? Latin's dead! DEAD! DO YA HEAR ME?!?!?!??! English! Better! Chinese! Better! Latin != Good!
This doesn't really relate to the Tenets of Law post, i just couldn't find the post i wanted to reply to inside this maze of posts. I'm new to slashdot, saw this category and was interested. Movies, well, i agree with a later post, that if you want to "preview" a movie before buying it, you should go to the movie. Why the hell doesn't the RIAA figure out some way to do that with music? The ways they have now, like downloading music that you can't distribute, or that you can't put on CD, that stuff is bogus. Personally, I like free music. But if they figured out a good way to let me hear my music conviently (you think i even wanna waste gas money getting to a CD shop to listen to music i *might* not like) i'd sure as heck use it. I don't know. Alone, i'm not smart enough to figure out a way to change how things are. But the RIAA has ALL THAT MONEY that they get from charging OUTRAGEOUS CD prices. WHy don't they use some of the money they're using to sue us, and use it to figure out a way to make things better for the people who are MAKING THEM MONEY? I mean, the purpose of business is to make money, right? If they're losing money, and they notice that they are losing money because people are dissatisfied with how things are (in this case, people would much rather pay nothing for almost CD quality music than 15 bux for a nice CD with a pretty book inside), then the RIAA's new business plan should be to APPEASE those customers, and thereby win them back to the RIAA fold. personally i don't like the RIAA, hell i don't even know if RIAA is the right abbreviation... hehe.... but they ARE a legitimate business. Instead of screwing over the free-thinkers, they should figure out a way to appease them. Well, thanks for listening to my rant.... i didn't proofread or anything, so i may have gone off babbling.
I especially like how you told that person to start his sentence with a Capitol letter. Anyone up for a capital letter instead?
Hey now. ANyone else here noice that uruk is the word for Orc in Elven (tolkien series)? Just thought i'd point that out... little bastid saddam
