I think maybe he noticed something about the IP address, maybe, considering that I posted the comment for you. I dunno. That's what his tone indicated, at least.
Actually, I did once use C++ to make a little tool for my webserver. It would allow me to use the web to stop and restart some services (MUSCLE, mainly). Worked great... but I suspect it would've been easier to code in PHP:)
Now would be a good time to plug the free, recently-opensourced Ozone file sharing program. It interfaces with MUSCLE/BeShare servers to allow people to share files without worries of AdWare and SpyWare and junk like that.
Well, I won't argue with that. It's nowhere near the programming language that C++ is. I like it, though, because it gets results. It's quick and painless to build a nice database-driven website with a decent visual appearance, whereas making a good-looking GUI app in C++ (or even a website using C++:) can be an excercise in futility for inexperienced programmers.
Anyway. I like PHP because it gets results, and because I haven't decided to take that final leap and actually learn how to program GUIs in C++.:) Oh well, once summer's over, I'll jump off that building.:)
To be a bit on-topic, however - I've never used FORTRAN, so I don't know what its benefits are. I've used QBasic, VB, Visual DialogScript (a Delphi offshoot), C++ (Both VC++ and "regular" linux/BeOS C++), and now I've been playing with PHP.
For anyone wondering, I wasn't going for Karma. Trying to drum up hits for my website, mostly.
What I would really like is for the Ozone/BeShare file sharing service to get more users. I mean, it's free, there's no advertising, and once it gets a few hundred more users, it'll have all the files you could possibly want.
Oh, and did I mention that it runs under Linux, Windows, and OS X?
Admitedly, I stole this from someone else - but their credits are in the flash file, so it should be ok... (they did an excellent job with it, it's a neato web game)
But I thought that in the US you would get arrested and charged for showing that systems had vulnerabilities?
I mean, that WarTalking case doesn't exactly inspire the White-Hat Hackers to continue in their good deeds, does it?

IN YOUR FACE, Hand Solo.
Thanks for the tip :) I'd rather use BASH than cmd.exe any day :)

Does it come with a video camera and wireless video receiver?
:) Aerial surveillance and photography and stuff would be a neat little hobby :) (Hella expensive, though, I bet)
That would be fun
Meh ... this was three years ago. I simply don't use perl any more, so I don't need it installed ...
Maybe in a month or two I'll look into it again.
Yeah, in this case, I tend to agree with you :)
Granted, I tried it ~3 years ago, and never since. I just don't use perl very much.
I've always had problems getting ActiveState Perl to work in Windows. Maybe it was the fault of the OmniHTTPd server, I dunno. Ah well.
More copyright crap, eh? Ah well. Ease your mind. Pretend each bad guy is a lawyer.
Ozone was opensourced on SourceForge, check it out here.
Alternate link for Ozone

:)
Ozone - Available for Linux, Windows, and OS X.
Beryllium's BeShare Server - use "Beryllium.BeShare.Com" inside of Ozone to check it out!
Enjoy
From Dusk Til Dawn would be fun on IMAX :)
Or John Carpenter's Vampires. That one would be cool :)

*camera pans away from the actors ...*
:)
*squishy noises and moaning are heard*
*some shadows are seen on the wall*
Voila! censored pr0n.
Hmm ... what does any of this have to do with CmdrTaco? :)
Yeah, yeah, I know. Shameless plugging. :)
:)

Dude, are you mocking my first post? lol :)
Confuzzled! A dictionary of made-up, sometimes-useful words!
That would be a bad thing. Kinda. Anyone see Monster's Ball? I never want to see Billy Bob's chest hair again.
:)
More Way of the Exploding Stick to take your mind off that horrible mental image. (Interactive stick figure kung-fu!)

Way of the Exploding Stick
Says who? I'm sure there would be dozens of pieces of evidence left on a typical intranet.
Firewall logs, histories, all sorts of junk.
(And when I say Kit Car, I'm not referring to Knight Rider. I mean, a build-it-yourself car.)
But I thought that in the US you would get arrested and charged for showing that systems had vulnerabilities? I mean, that WarTalking case doesn't exactly inspire the White-Hat Hackers to continue in their good deeds, does it?
Do ya think any geeks will get laid that night, claiming that the asteroid will hit earth and it's "The Last Chance EVER!"?
I think that's actually one of the nicer WMs I've seen ...
