Hey, if those are still out.. does that mean I can build my own Apple I?
I don't know this for sure, but I think the chips that the Apple I used are hard to come by anymore (Like memory chips, processors, etc.) I'd imagine that your best chance would be to partially redesign it to use modern-day, easily available parts. That might be something worth writing to Woz about.
Oh, wait a sec, it might violate US Supercomputer Export laws... Sorry, couldn't resist.

The last time I checked, teachers are paid very little for what they do, which may be one of the most important jobs on the planet. C'mon, give the man a break. He is trying to instill in our country's youth a love of computers. What greater good can their be than to try to train your successor, for lack of a better phrase? If I had to deal with Gates and Jobs, I wouldn't want to build computers anymore either. I'd imagine they ruined it for him.

Be has made many leaps in the realm of hardware support in R4.5. They support all cards that there are accelerated X-Windows servers for (ATI Rage, Riva TNT, Imagine 128, Voodoo, and S3). And, there is a generic VESA mode now. So you can still get color, even if your card isn't supported in accelerated mode. Plus, Be has added much better PC Card support, more Ethernet drivers, and support of more printers. (I believe that their support of the Epson printers rivals that of Windows). Now, even 6 color mode is supported on the Photo models. I am very happy with my copy of R4.5

Likewise, if you try to tell joe-random hapless W2K victim that Linux isn't Unix, he'll either just laugh at you, or else get highly confused. To these Prisoners of Bill, Linux certainly is Unix in every meaningful sense. Linux and BSD are not non-Unix. CP/M, W2K, MacOS, and all the other abominations foisted off on consumers are non-Unix. Why must we continue to be Pharisaic about all this? Call a spade a spade.

I'd agree with you, except... Linux has Linuxconf. Unixes, like Solaris (The one I am most familiar with) don't have a tool like Linuxconf (Or, at least I haven't found it yet). I have spend many a night wishing for Solarisconf. :) Linux is Unix, but with a major advantage where ease of configuration is concerned.
