  1. Mugabe... on Starving Nation Turns Down Bioengineered Corn · · Score: 5, Insightful

Concerns over bio-engineered corn may be the excuse he gives in public, but in reality he is using food as leverage over his political opponents. It has been reported that he has halted shipments of food into areas that did not support him in the recent elections. It also ties into his siezures of white owned farms. Apparently he is trying to starve his country.

  2. Rights... on Another Publisher Challenges Legality of Links · · Score: 1, Interesting

Just like with the Amazon used book controversy, author's of content should be able to control what happens to it when they create it. If someone doesn't WANT their story linked, they should be able to say no. If someone doesn't WANT their book sold used, then they should be able opt out of having a used listing next to their new one. I'm tired of seeing arguments like "well this is good for them so they shouldn't be griping". Let them make their own judgements about what's good for them

  3. Used crap... on Amazon & Used Books II: Bezos Strikes Back · · Score: 1

I wonder if Amazon plans to start selling used electronics or any of the other stuff they sell? I really doubt it, because that would cost *them* money as opposed to other people. That argument about used books helping authors sounds exactly like something a dot com executive would say. Maybe he should compress the files (.bp3s?) and stick them on his site, since according to other sage internet executives that also helps spur sales. This is certainly about greed, but not on the part of the authors.
