I don't believe we need "smaller government" as a guiding principle but I'd be strongly in favor of eliminating all kinds of government expenditures on defense, corrections, redundant criminal justice agencies (as you mentioned) etc. etc.

I think we should end the CIA and FBI completely, and re-organize along function...then if the gov't wants they can have ***one*** secret org...DIA, NSA, CIA, FBI, Homeland Security...seriously it's criminal.

The supreme court thing is interesting...I'm kind of conservative in this area in that I prefer to leave our system as originally intended when possible, but I can see an argument for that.

look at the breathless "futurism"-style description of "what we'll do" in the future!

So perhaps 3D printing won't alter our old habits that substantially. We'll demand locally made kitchen mops, but we'll still get them at Target. We'll acquire a taste for craft automobile tires, but we'll obtain them from some third party that specializes in their production

The people who write this stuff are idiots.

No. According to this study: http://www.sciencedirect.com/s...

That study and many like it examine **instinct** as the mechanism for this behavior...they do not **in any way** examine bird behavior in terms of "understanding"

So until I have a definition of "understanding" that is mutually exclusive of instinct & other well understood animal behaviors...and relates that to the human concept of "understanding" this research is claiming something that is not supported by evidence.
