Well, your condition isn't complete blindness, so you just want to improve your sight because it's very bad. From the article it wasn't clear how much this technology would really be better than your current condition, but I guess that it would work with your condition.
Not that I'm in any way quilified to answer your question, this is just a guess.
There's a sceen where the blind character drives a van through a parking lot with direction via radio from someone out of the van. He crashes through a couple cars, but... (it's really funny)
Anyone read Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card? One of the characters (Odaho, I think...) had a artifical eye that also recorded every thing he ever saw, he had to download it to a computer regularly though.
Does anyone here know how to write AOL Instant Messanger (or some other alike program) bot program? There's a couple on the internet, but writting one for Linux that would interface with OpenCYC would be nice.
Sort of like this, each Blizzard game that goes on Battle.net has a CD-key. Only one user with a given CD key can sign on at any one time. Does nothing against people who only want single-player, but most people want to play multi-player so they have to buy a copy so they can have their own CD-key.
If you want to do this play Robot Battle. It's a game where you write a robot in a C-like scripting lanuage andload your robot and other's to fight each other in a 2D arena. Note this a Windows only program (try WINE on linux, I guess).
Earlier on some people mentioned that their school only allows games that students write. This prevents licining(sp?) problems and provides an incentive for learning computers.
I think that is a great idea to allow any games that students have written to be played, but no commerical games. I'm pretty sure that there are no programming courses at my school, but I'm not to high school yet so I don't know for sure. Of course, I've litterally written tron at a friend's house in BASIC just so that we could play it that day.
When I have study hall in the libary (regular desk wouldn't fit any board) the libarian usually doesn't let me play chess and she doesn't even let me look at video game news sites.
I used to find all the security holes in the elemntry school network, but when I "hacked" (all I did was open command.com and typed NET VIEW) the jr. high network one of the computer teachers threatened to take away my computer access. The security hole was Start->Find->command.com, most of the computers in the school have find removed from the start menu.
IE wasn't orginally built-in to the OS, so couldn't you find a really old install (3.x?) and install that and go to M$'s site for a upgrade. I'm not sure if this would work, but if you want IE under WINE (for testing I assume) then it's worth a try.
I use IE (forgive me, I used to use NS, but the lack of compatibality (at the time) was too annoying). IE by default opens all windows in the same process, but there's a very simple registry hack to fix that. I know it should be an option, but this is M$ software, don't expect it to make sense. Link to registry hack
By the way, I've always been amused by all the Windows administrators that are unaware of NT/W2K floppy root kits that reset the administrative password in a minute.
That's easy to fix: remove the floppy drive!;) I run WinXP and I know about those floppies. In fact I have purposely not tried to disable floppy boots because I might be forced to used them myself if Windows randomly decides to corrupt itself. (3 times in the last 2 months...)

Yeah, hasn't anyone seen Sneakers?

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, but isn't American Sign Langage different from other sign angages?

I don't know much about Linux, but could you make it auto-open a window manager set to look like Windows or MacOS (or close enough to them).

That sounds like a good idea... now to petition for the programing class...

Unicode doesn't support Sandskrit(sp?)? I thought it did... (not that I would ever view a page with that script...)

That is helpful that [tab] only selects forms, but in IE I've used [tab] for hyperlinks when the mouse wasn't working very well. (not on my computer)

If that's what you want to argue about then you have to also say that IE opens instantly on Windows (98+).

Win32/Linux was meant to mean Win32 AND Linux.
Someone I know got a hotmail account and never gave it to ANYONE and got spam on it.
