An independent media source is truly needed in todays world. I really like the approach of the Spogg website. Even though the site is still very small, something like this becoming a mainstream source for news could really change the world!
Their "instructional" video sums it up pretty well.
Yes, it seems to be a lot smarter to do like these guys, and make something somewhat original. Instead of just copying the game, they have modified the rules to better suit internet and changed the name and the game board.
I have been a huge Tetris fan for many years, but the last year I have only played Multris. It sports a rather nifty multiplayer mode, and there are competition at all levels, some of the guys are just unbelivable. I guess my girlfriend would have been a lot happier if the high score lists hadn't been there though...
Some say Tetris is dead, but for me it's actually the only game I come back to time and again. Tetris forever!
Slightly off topic I guess, since the site does not have any FPS games. But still for multiplayer gaming I think they have the best remakes of old classics. I have become totally addicted to their Popout game, and I guess my girlfriend would have been a lot happier if the hi-score lists hadn't been there...
Check out Multris.com. It is absolutely perfect if you need a 10 minute break from work. For the panic-boss-is-coming feature, just close the window and pretend you were reading Slashdot...
