If you'd removed the thread altogether instead of just appending that line, I'd never have seen it, and neither would many other people. Even if most of the U.S. readers have seen the episode by now, the rest of the world hasn't. Have a little consideration!
(And if it's not possible to delete it, at least rename it to "Big Fat X-Files Final Season Spoiler" or something...)
