I signed a contract for $x/month for an x b/s connection. I'm going to use up to that amount as much as I want. If the ISP wants me to use less, lower the price.
1 - Yahoogroups, topica, etc and look for rave mailing lists. Especially for ones in your area. They can help. Plus, they can inform you about the local artists/DJ's in your area, who are often as good as or better than the big names.
2 - www.ishkur.com has a neat app to show the myriad genres of electronic music.
3 - hardcore. Drum & bass, jungle, ragga. These are the sounds you want.
Soundmurderer, John B, Acen, Squarepusher, Cylob, Altern 8, Aphrodite (esp. "All Over Me" with Barrington Levy!), Boards of Canada, Congo Natty, Dillinja, DJ Die, Luna-C, LTJ Bukem, SL2, Krome & Time. I could go on for days.
You won't find the best music in Tower records. They only sell watered-down commercial stuff.
With the advent of Opera 6.0, MS trolls have begun appearing en masse on the Opera ng's. Some think its a sign that Opera is competing well enough for MS to send its minions.
There are even rumors that MS pays people to troll the ng's. Supposedly this was admitted by some of the trollers.
See Rex Ballard for more info.
It's an accepted practice and it doesn't mean apps can't access localhost. It only means that pop3.nortonav.com is automatically resolved to 127.0.0.1 without doing a DNS lookup.
Adding hosts like ads.aol.com and other ad sites to your hosts file in this manner is a nice way to prevent banners from being loaded.
I wonder how MS is going to install / uninstall software on the PC. Will there be any notification? Will there be some sort of reporting to HQ that I'm attempting to circumvent DRM?
And more importantly, will my personal firewall allow me to block this? I can't wait for the hack for this.

Soulseek is going to get /.'ed and it'll be down again! All because of you!

And American McGee's Alice. And probably also American McGee's take on Wizard of Oz, currently in development.

Yea, the bells and AOLTW are all going broke because they don't charge enough. Fuckin dumbass.
I pay $40/month for my 512k connection, and I should be able to use it all without being hassled.
I use it to track my credit card debt. Which every red-blooded American college student should have piles of. Or at least student loans.
Senators to learn the importance of free speech. How could we help teach this lesson?
