There are two roads I believe that global, internet-enabled hate mongering can travel:
An organized group of "truth mongerers" can set out to counteract the hate. There are many groups in the United States and the world that do just that. The Arabs will have to develop their own if at this point they trust nothing Western.
The hate mongering will stop when the Arab world sees the ruins about them, much like the Germans did after World War II. It's called a reality check. When the Germans saw the ruins that Hitler's hate led their country too, they knew the true payoff of facism.
I've always wondered why creation theory is always laughed at and not actually pondered more on sites like Slashdot. I mean, isn't part of an education and learning about the world around us being at least open to discussion of opposing viewpoints?
But nowadays, it's almost cliche to condescendingly deride a person or idea of faith.
Instead, how about reading a bit about Creationism or arguments against evolution.
I know this will be modded down since the idea of God is verboten among the/. intelligentsia, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
Like any other technology, it is not good or evil in and of itself. It just is. What people do with it is either good or evil.
You've found the key to many problems within the world. As humans progress and gain new knowledge and tools, we must make fundamental choices in the use of that knowledge and those tools. Many of the topics in Slashdot such as violations of privacy via technology are judgement calls by those using that technology.
Unfortunately, some people make bad moral choices. Evil even.
