Homeworld: a 3d game that looks amazing, has an amazing storyline and hell, even the music is amazing. This game, much mroe than Halflife or something like it, comes close to being art.
Huh? I read the article, and it said 2 GB/channel, with a max of 32 channels...wouldn't that make the max 64 GB/s ?
Also, saying that PCI-E will also replace AGP is misleading...AGP is nothing more than a slight variation on PCI to start with...so if you replace PCI, you automatically replace AGP, I'd say.
While you're at it, add in a fractal chip (either to the cpu or the video card) so we can have cooler and more realistic smoke/plants/heightmaps/ground/dirt/trees/uh, actually, anything that you can come across in nature...
So kick mariuana to schedule 2 aswell; known medical uses, and the only known bad effects are from heavy, long term use (as with just about anything you can consume). Pair that with the recreational use, and I'd say "legalise it".
The rotter there is, though, that you need tobacco to make it burn properly:)
either that or just use the documentation/tuts provided with matlab itself. If you know Maple, then it'll be pretty much selfexplanatory after you get past the first hurdles...and Simulink is dead easy to model with:)
And for those of you who use a PalmOS device, try CplxCal and MatrixCal. That'll sort you for the kind of engineering problems you're going to do on a palmtop, anyway.
With cigarettes, I absolutely agree. And that's from a smoker.
But with alcohol, you should have a look at the current (or next? Imma subscriber, so I tend to get it early) issue of Scientific American; it has a quite interesting article on the health benefits of alcohol. Some doctors are actually considering proscribing it.
Unless, of course, that MS patch destroys OS functionality (ie random crashing, instability and defective device output), as was the case for my Soundblaster Live Value.
The MS patch killed my system, the one from Creative direct fixed it.
Oh, and then there's the story about losing ALL my channel settings for my Hauppage card right before I learned to turn off autoupdate.
And if you don't agree with that...then just don't install WinXP SP1! You can still download any other patches MS makes (they're XP w/o SP1 compatible) and you don't have to deal with SP1's disgusting EULA.
What rights the EULA for WinUpdate-v.4 grants MS is another matter entirely, however.
You know what? Screw the Bible...you've absorbed enough from western culture by now to know the gist of it (if you're moderately intelligent, that is). Go read the Qur'an, the Torah and some of the myths/legends/holy books from Asia and Africa too. After that, go read some history.
Then you'll finally have the basis to decide that any religion is a very bad thing, that only results in bigotry, hate, intollerance and war, and the world would be a/lot/ better off without it.
Face it...the good that a few misionary style acts of a very few people bring doesn't offset the evil that religion has brought.
Heh...you might want to check out/.'s review of the book. Make no mistake, I read it, too, and it's an interesting read...if you're new to the subject. But for more in-depth stuff, check out "Swarm Intelligence: From Natural to Artificial Systems (Santa Fe Institute Studies on the Sciences of Complexity)" by Bonabeau and collegues, or Douglas Hoftadter's website (and book "Godel, Esher and Bach"), which are a bit more technical than "Emergence"'s pop-science take on things.
Actually, a people carrier isn't that bad an idea...if we had a payload carrier too (which the shuttle isn't anymore; that's just an out of date airframe).
Thing is, there's two things that make money in space: communications and tourism. The rest (intelsats, Hubble, other scientific sats) are usefull, but cost money.
So what we need is a launch vehicle which can get people into space and also the building blocks of the spacehabitat where those tourists can stay. My guess is that making and a peoplemover and a cargocarrier will be too expensive in the short-to-mid term. Cheaper to run in the end, but more expensive to develop now [developing two ships is always mroe expensive].
Too true. I'd say more subsidies for private projects, like the late RotorRocket. Great concept, immenently implementable (working stage 1 prototype) and would have only cost 7 million (!!!) per launch in 2007. And now their chapter 11'd.
Man, I could concievably have bought a ticket to space in 2007-2010...
Hehe...that's old Marxist dogma; basically said that eventually capitalism would selfdistruct in that way and lead to communism. Uh-huh, like that's happened. We're just in a depresion right now, but the figures show that these recesions always end up at a higher plateau than before. What makes you think this one is any different?
First off, that's a snowboarding jacket (recognisable by the padding on the rear...snowboarders spend more time sitting down than actually riding:) ). Second, the way and places I ski, a harddisk would be skipping every second. Mechanical systems just can't handle the vibrations...that's why I need solid state.
I'll only upgrade my IIIc when they come out with something like the SJ33 (preferably with virtual graffiti, but you can't have everything)...but which also incorportaes a cellphone. Or they'd have to convert the Kyocera 7125 to GSM...
But what I find strange is that ever since I had my IIIc I've been saying that the only reason I'd upgrade is for a cellphone/palmOS, highres screen, removable storage device. So when are those idiots in marketing going to allow R&D to make one!?
Yeah, but try going skiing with an iPod...doesn't work, 'cos there's an actual harddisk in there. FlashRam OTOH doesn't skip, no matter what kind of mogel-field your going down.

Change that link to isonews.com...it's in the hands of the DOJ now, and I for one won't really mind if they get /.-ed :)

Kinda exactly like human, neh?

So you look up more to the news reader than the guy who designed the new chip which is on the news?
Wow...am I glad I'm not you.

Yeah, and Linux used to be SOOO userfriendly :)
I must be drunk :)
Seriously? Wow, I'll have to check up on that...if it's really that long, it makes me regret springing for 256mb flash...
Do you know of anyone who has taken an ipod for some hardcore skiing?

Use a PalmOS device...go for a cheap Visor (they have longer IR range)...you can play games on it during commercials.
